We’ve come a long way from the seedy movie theatres showing the Ivory Snow girl doing things teenage boys dream of watching. Move up about 30 years and add the wide spread use of the cell phone to the teenage boy’s viewing habits and you get the picture.

I picked up on this story over at TechDirt. As cell phones become more widespread and have more geehickies added to them, it was only a matter of time. Pornographic material is starting to show up on mobile phones and some places in China are even using it as a sales technique. Stop by to see the newest cell phone and nifty video features? Get a load of the movie they’re showing you with it. They’ll even leave it on there if you agree to the purchase of the phone.

Malaysia has even go so far as to randomly stop people and investigate their cell phone for adult content because they say teenagers are coming up with this stuff on and are swapping it on their mobile the unit. Ahhh the problems of an open society. Chinese authorities are trying to deal with but apparently they’re having a hard time catching these guys.

It looks like we’ve got some ground to make up for the PSP and the iPod. In all reality, as new media becomes available, adult oriented content is right there with it, whether it was Gutenberg’s odd variation on the wine press or Edison’s strange “moving pictures” idea. The cell phone is no different. For each new media developed, particularly visual media, sexual content will be right their with it.
