Google And T-Mobile Form Partnership

With more and more users turning to the mobile web, the search engine industry’s embrace of mobile technology, particularly mobile web browsing, has increased as well.

Thanks in part to the growing interest the mobile Internet; it appears as if Google’s “busy period” is going to continue indefinitely. According to the Reuters news service, Google and mobile communications giant T-Mobile has announced a partnership that has Google as the default homepage for users who browse with their mobile phones. This means when you start an Internet session with your phone, the first web site you will see will be Google.

Google And T-Mobile Form Partnership This partnership is part of T-Mobile’s “web-n-walk” program that will see the company introduce phones with larger displays and lower service charges in an effort to better support the growing use of the mobile Internet. However, US T-Mobile customers may not be able to experience the company’s partnership. The Reuters report indicates the “web-n-walk” program is scheduled to launch in Germany in July with other European countries following the initial launch.

T-Mobile has not decided on whether or not to use Google has the default homepage for its US customers, which is surprising seeing considering how many US Internet users visit Google when they want to search.

T-Mobile’s “web-n-walk” service will be using the Opera web browser, designed for mobile technology, of course.
