A report on online shopping rankings by Nielsen/NetRatings indicates that online auction house eBay leads in the number of visitors to its site. Not only that, but eBay also leads, by a huge margin, for the amount of time visitors spent on a shopping site.
eBay’s leads for number of unique visitors, receiving 17.1 million for the week ending April 25. Amazon.com was 2nd with 7.6 million visitors. The remaining sites in the top ten follow:
3rd – Shopping.com with 3.5 million
4th – Yahoo Shopping, 3.3 million
5th – Expedia, 3.1 million
6th – Dell, 2.8 million
7th – Wal-Mart, 2.4 million
8th – Target, 2.2 million
9th – Orbitz, 2 million
10th – Travelocity, 2 million.
Not only leading in unique visitors, eBay also leads in average amount of time users spent on their site with 41 minutes, 58 seconds. This amount represents a huge lead that eBay has over other shopping sites in web site stickiness. Expedia holds the 2nd position with 10 minutes, 40 seconds. This indicates that eBay has a strong hold over the internet shopping industry.
Also included in this report were the rankings for most online advertising impressions, or the amount of times an ad was clicked, among consumer goods. The top ten follows:
1. Nestle, 312.5 million
2. Adolf Coors Co., 55.6 million
