I read in webproworld that you might do this for some of us. We welcome anything you can possibly offer on our “unfortunately” FRAMED site. Our owner is just adamant that he wants to keep it that way. I’ve utilized the “no frames” tag on the index page and copy and paste the entire real page there as well as on the real page. I’ve cut down our keywords to about 12 of them…but we are a pawn shop and sell so many things that I just about CAN’T narrow them down to 3. We gotten listed in the engines all over the place for the public information pages I’ve created, and that helps…but I just can’t seem to get much action on the ones like pre-owned Rolex watches and jewelry. Thanks for considering it.

Hi Jan,
These type of items are selling like hotcakes on Ebay — have you tried that?
Neal
Hi Neal,
Thanks for responding. We ARE selling on Ebay, to the tune of almost a million a year now. We’re hoping to transfer some of that over to website sales so we can escape all the fees.
We don’t have much luck selling the used Rolexes, though. Jewelry, either. That’s why we are also hoping to do something with them.
Jan
Jan,
I’m surprised about not being able to sell the Rolexes — I see a lot of them being sold on Ebay. I can understand jewelry since you really need to see it.
In regard to frames vs no-frame: If you’re advertising on the PPC providers it no longer matters. It only mattered when you were trying to do search engine positioning. As far as I’m concerned the days are over for positioning. Now, with the PPC you actually purchase your position — it much better than the smoke and mirrors – here today, gone tomorrow of positioning.
Neal
Neal,
Thanks for that, Neal. I’m going to get with the “Powers” and see if they want to go with the PPC thing. We’ve had a lot of phone solicitation from companies wanting us to do this, but have been pretty undecided about it. My own personal opinions have leaned towards doing it with Google and yahoo and trying to cut out the middle man. But I will check out Overture and see what it offers.
The web positioning thing still intrigues me. We get about 10 hits a week on Google and Yahoo from the most obscure things on our website…like our restaurant page…people looking up Carrabbas and Outback. We are like number 4 or 5 on those searches, as crazy as that sounds. The hits are there…it’s just not creating sales…:-)
Anyway, thanks again. You are a very knowledgeable and nice man.
Jan
Jan,
I wouldn’t start with Google — I’ve found it to be twice as expensive at Overture. I also don’t like how they have it structured — you have very little control of how much you pay and what position your ad appears. Overture is superior in every way. If your business works on the Internet, price per click will probably work. You’ll know in a month.
Neal
Neal,
I’ve already gained something from your help. I went to Overture and used their keyword analizer. Come to find out there are WAY more people searching for “used” Rolex watch than there are pre-owned rolex, or some others. I went right straight and changed the keywords on all my pages to “used Rolex watch”. So you’ve already helped me immeasurably! I also sent it to a motel owner that I did a site for and told him to consider it.
If we were to decide to use overture, can we do it as a referral from you? I think it pays you and gives us a spiff too. It looks like a wonderful program. Thanks again for your help!
