how do i create a username in yahoo mess.

I see a sign in name when I first open yahoo messenger...is that going to be my username to view other cam's and chat? Or is there another area? I couldn't find one and i gave that sign in name to whom i wanted to 'visit' and they said they need a username.

It's been a long time since I used Yahoo Messenger, but if I recall correctly, and understand your question correctly, your sign-in name is your yahoo email address. With that, you enter your password, and sign into Yahoo. Your Messenger address can be different, and you set that up when you first set up Yahoo Messenger. If you open up your Yahoo Messenger, I think your messenger address might be indicated at the very top of the pop-up window.

HI, thanks...i checked what you suggested after signing in and at the top it has the same name that i used to sign in...so i guess that is my username, yet as far as i can see, yahoo mess. doesn't ever show an area, not even in the profile area a username. My yahoo mail address is the same as my yahoo mail. Has anyone ever heard of a webcam that is not capable of being seen in any of these cam2cam forums? One individual insisted that i go to a link and get a username there...the catch was that i had to pay 5 dollars for the effort and use my credit card, and leave it open for 39.99 a month thereafter, but insisted that i could always cancel the monthly rate, and the result would be that i had a username. I believe it was a scam, so i refused.

I think you did well to refuse. My guess would be that it was to buy a membership in a particular chat venue, but I have read of many instances where cancellations didn't take place, even after a few months and many attempts.

Good advice, my webcam works without a monthly fee, just make sure that your webcam is compatible with yahoo messenger, most of them are, but I am not sure which one you have, its conceivable that your cam might not be. But definitely do not pay ANY monthly fee....
