My Yahoo Search Traffic is down 50%

I found that my yahoo search traffic is down 50%, I also found that they last processed my sitemaps on October 2006, Please help so that I can increase search traffic. I was looking at Yahoo Site Explorer..

Also please suggest, if is there could exist some problem with my sitemaps , due to which Site's traffic is low? Is there need for some modification in the sitemaps or what are the ideal conditions to be added in the sitemaps...

You should have some type of analytics software setup so that you can see exactly where the drop in Yahoo traffic is coming from. It could be that all of your Yahoo rankings are lower or it could be that 2 or 3 important keywords dropped in ranking.

According to Yahoo you only have about 156 backlinks. This simply isn't enough to get decent rankings. You need to work at building more backlinks with good link anchor text.

I'm not sure if it will help, but you might want to specify your sitemap file in your robots.txt. Also try submitting your sitemap to Yahoo directly.

I think what you need to do is to resubmit your sitemap.. With traffic, this is totally dependent on the number of individual who queried the keywords you optimized your site where it ranks on the first page. Sometimes, unexpected traffic drop happens. That is why is it very important to diversify traffic sources. So when one traffic source provide little, you can still expect something from others.

i think you got to worry if your site is not in google, so how about your site in google.....

i got little traffic from yahoo search. for me, i focus on google. maybe you should seo yahoo just as google. try resubmit your sitemap.

Are you sure that doing same SEO for Yahoo as Google will give improvement in SERP in Yahoo also .For me it has not worked,
I got good ranking in Google, but not in Yahoo.

Yahoo does look for slightly different things. They care more about onpage factors and internal link structure. Google and Yahoo both like lots of backlinks though. So if you get good enough backlinks you can usually get rankings on both search engines. Yahoo seems more interested in quantity of links compared to Google who is more concerned with quality.
