Default Yahoo is dieing

Alright so i been reading up on yahoo and its recent low amount of traffic and was wondering what you guys think yahoo could do to get through this rough patch. This of course excluding "Becoming more like Google" as they have already stated that they will not follow or try to copy goggles tactics.

People are using Google because their results are better. If Yahoo stops allowing PAID advertisers to appear in the organic listings, maybe they'll start getting people's trust back.

To me the most important indicator is the stock price. Go to

BigCharts

Use the following menu:
  1. In the symbol field: yhoo
  2. Time: 5 Years
  3. Frequency: Monthly
  4. Chart style: Candle stick
  5. Draw chart.
Use the same template for Google (goog) and Microsoft (msft).

Do that each quarter or half year. That replicated chart will tell me more than unqualified guessing from web masters

Note that Google has a Gravestone Doji at the end. Microsoft has close to a gravestone Doji.

This was not an advice to sell, hold or buy any of the three stocks.

Think you are right, Yahoo would really be loosing more and more traffic day by day. As a company I don't think they have any option open to survive the trouble time. Its just matter of time, I think, MS would operate Yahoo search.

if you are talking about Yahoo search engine then maybe yes ... because i know lot of peoples those still like to use yahoo As Them home page and main search engine ... but if you are talking about whole yahoo service then its not ... they got some great services , like yahoo chat , mybloglog, small business, yahoo groups... And lot more ... and i do belive That majority of eourpion peoples are still using yahoo ... rather then google ...because on my 3 sites i'm daily having lot of traffic from yahoo and 90% of visitors are coming from eourope ... But from google i'm just reciving Traffic from asia major country is india ... and they never buy any thing from my site ... they just visit my site and disappear . so i still think yahoo is popular search engne but i'm not sure about MSN or live

Yes, Yahoo does seem more popular in Europe; I have noticed this with the people that I chat with in Europe.

Default HRCrossing Post Questions - 05192009

I am looking to build a strong career in HR. It’s a very specific field and I have had very little luck finding openings. Can anyone refer me to an employment site that specifically caters to HR

As Yahoo dies in the SE field MSN will have to go up; Microsoft is a huge software company with huge resources. They will hire the right people and they will increase their market share, because their market share has nowhere to go but up.

Some of the clients have worked for, we have seen a slight rise in Google traffic in the UK over the past couple of months, which I am not sure is a little upsurge or not.

One thing tho, I think Google is pretty much untouchable now, with MSN delivering very little traffic.

I know I get phone calls quite often from the Yahoo guys trying to upsell stuff !

Is Norway part of Europe? I don't think that is correct here.
  1. I think YouTube (Google) is also increasing in popularity here, especially among younger people.
  2. As far as I understand portals still have high traffic here.
  3. Yahoo is (was?) my favorite SE on finance and economics.

I'll chime in here...
this is just my opinion, I don't have any statistics to back this up, but from where I sit it looks this way to me:

Google has a VESTED interest in Yahoo NOT going away.
Google is frightened out of their wits of antitrust accusations
The EU just clobbered Intel.
When Clinton was in power his administration tried to break up Microsoft.
and we've got Obamunism to deal with now????

I agree with adailiabarclay's reply above:
Yahoo has some pretty good reasons for people to use it, reasons OTHER than it's search feature.
Flickr is my SEO secret weapon, Yahoogroups, I get my news from the Yahoo main page, it was on Yahoo that I learned that Steve Irwin died back in 2005... Yahoo's not going to go down the tubes, what they are likely to do is find their niche and compete that way.

Yahoo has at best 20% of search. Buying inktomi didn't work out.

Actually rather than attempt to become more like google step away from the searching sector its like a poor nerdy kid taking a beating by an nfl linebacker just kinda sad to watch. The one thing they have over google though is the network part of their site perhaps they should work on that and try to step into the field of social networking with myspace and facebook.
