Yahoo to cut 1,400 jobs

Yahoo announced plans on Tuesday to lay off at least 10 percent of its workforce, some 1,400 employees, as the weak economy cut deeply into third-quarter profits at the struggling Web company.

Instead of going to cut jobs, they should search for other options. Even a salary cut could be better option in these unemployment days.

It's benfit for Yahoo though the cutt number isn't small. Sometimes it's a load for a company to own overmany staff.Special at the Economic Recession. Yahoo is tight.

Defiantly a salary cut they would be the best option imagine the amount of work that will be forced on other staff from the 1400 that leave they won’t be happy, the atmosphere in the office will be demoralised there for not benefitting anyone if anything it will damage the company in cutting jobs.

Not really suprised though I feel it has to do with google cornering the market rather than the poor economy.

After striking a good deal with Microsoft, hope Yahoo will reconsider its decision on job cut.

I suspect that they will be reducing their headcount, as a direct result of the MS acquisition.

I just heard about it on the radio yesterday (I don't get out much, I guess). I'm not sure if MS is purchasing Yahoo, or if it's a merger. Either way, though, it's going to drastically alter the competitive dynamics in the SE market.
