Depends upon whether you prefer apples over oranges?

Are you interested in the differences between the quality of search, the quality of search referral traffic, site usability at Yahoo versus Google, ..?

I would argue that neither is better than the other.

Each works well in it's own right, depending on what you're trying to find or what your objective is.

Google works best for finding information (I have found).
Yahoo works good for shopping, etc.

In my limited experience - Google is better in getting visitors to my new site.

I also have a site that's been online since 2000 and the results are the same.

Google and Yahoo both are most popular search engines, but in compare Google is best in technique, we always gives 1 preference Google to see crawling rate and back links, but it's more difficult to compare.

Yahoo is more accurate in listing backlinks, but google has more webmaster tools.

Each has its weaknesses, but Google has a much larger following when you consider Youtube and search. Google is better than Yahoo when you condiser the numbers, but I would not leave Yahoo, in the cold, when trying to improve your traffic. Yahoo is a must when trying to run an online business if you want to maximize your chances to get a sale or traffic.

I tend to use Google almost exclusively at this point. I can usually find what I'm looking for.

Interesting, both of my younger kids use google first, then if they can't find what they want, they go to ask.com. Even though their email addresses are through Yahoo.

Should not even be a question-Google of course. That is why they hold 60+ of the search volume while yahoo is down in the 20's.

well All above said very well and justifies that non of them can be compared or differentiate in many cases
but what for we all are here the main target is the "Users"

and as far as i have noticed the current "Users" are more tech. filtered compare to past time so what i felt is that as per "need of change" the " user" get diverted what can satisfy it.. which probably some extend GOOGLE does wether search engine or mailing , or business wise .

So somewhere End user wise Google Rules- dat's what i feel

All the views given above are correct but in my personal opinion, for searching purpose Google ranks above Yahoo and will always stay ahead. Yahoo can't beat google, as there is huge traffic through Google. But do remember one thing, this is only my opinion.

Google sends us the most traffic. Personally though, I use Yahoo only because I like all the news and stuff on the homepage, so I use it to search too.

Smile Re: Yahoo vs Google

Better for whom? The user wanting to search or for the site owner? Everyone knows that Google has the greatest percentage of all searches, then Bing and Yahoo fall in somewhere way behind. Does that mean they don't return a good result? Here is an example, I used a tool that pulls both from Google and Bing for restaurants in my local area, Bing gave a map listing that shows many and Google did not. For a person that is traveling, the Bing result might have been better in that case.

So, the best one, is the one which gives you the best result for what you need at the time.
