Hand Jobs and Yahoo
Has anyone notice this happening to one of their websites in Yahoo before? Where their website is basically demoted by hand by a Yahoo engineer for any number of reasons? I have seen it happen before with a past client. The client inter-linked multiple websites to heavily (in yahoo's opinion) and was "jobed". We communicated to them on fixes and then where back in. It seems to be happening to another client of mine, but as you know communicating with Yahoo is very difficult to do and I feel i was lucky last time to get that communication. I am was just wondering if anyone else in the forum has went though this process with Yahoo?

Re: Hand Jobs and Yahoo
Was yours because of inter-linking to many websites or another Yahoo guideline issue.

Re: Hand Jobs and Yahoo
I have never experienced hand jobs by Yahoo but I would expect that it happens more often than in Google or MSN. Yahoo seems to be slower in terms of updates (they still announce index updates) and they seem to be more dependent on manual intervention. I could be way off base but that is the feeling I get from my past experiences with Yahoo.
Good luck with your current issue Jaan.

Re: Hand Jobs and Yahoo
I have a client that used to be #1 in Yahoo for his primary keyword phrase, but got demoted to #1000+ due to being linked to some "bad" neighborhoods. We found out that this was not a filter issue, but done by a Yahoo editor.
I helped him review and revamp his reciprocal links, but he has not been able to get anything like his previous position restored. Apparently, editors at Yahoo change frequently and the previous point of contact is no longer there. It has been almost a year now and my client has had no success in getting the issue resolved. He was so enfuriated that he pulled his $1,500/month spending on Yahoo Search Marketing and now just rides his Google laurels.

Jaan, if you think the issues are solved, try here: Yahoo! Search URL Status Review Form
It worked for me several times.

If the issues are fixed, then you shall have success. If not, your request will be ignored.

Re: Hand Jobs and Yahoo
We have a couple of tourism related sites that simply don't come up in Yahoo... never have figured out exactly why.
Rocky Mountain Travel Adventure Vacation Guide Gold Panning and Adventure Vacation Guide! Ski Cabins Campgrounds Hot Springs
both sites have been up for years and have content that is similar but not exactly the same...
any suggestions as to where we are messing up?
We did have a "disgruntled employee" a while back who was our SE "expert" who vowed revenge and then several of our domains dissappeared from Yahoo, of course we have no way to know if that had any connection. This dialogue on "hand jobs and Yahoo" does bring up the problem of what must we do to appease the Yahoo spiders.

Re: Hand Jobs and Yahoo
In spite of no representation in Yahoo we continue to grow and actually have quadrupled our traffic over the life of the project which is going into it's 10th year...
funny to look at our statistics and see 10,000 unique visitors every week on each of the domains and only 10 or 12 of them from Yahoo... sometimes I wonder who's missing out, us or them.... ?

Re: Hand Jobs and Yahoo
Unfortunately, one of my main sites was also hit by Yahoo a couple years ago, and to date I still don't know why and how to resolve this issue.

Re: Hand Jobs and Yahoo
One of my sites was hit by a hand job by Yahoo. It was due to reciprocal linking between a number of sites that were hosted by the same company. Had to delete all my links, even those not hosted by the company. Still not happy with the results in the SERP's. But I realize other sites may have improved and enhanced the quality of their links, while I had to rebuild the links.
