Default What happened on Yahoo today?

We had 3,000 backlinks on Yahoo yesterday. It fell to 258 today. Has anyone else had this experience? Any idea what is going on?

Strange...this seems to happen to us every 6 months or so. They seem to clean out their links!

Since S/E was created hmm, which doesn't put advertisements and count them as queries, Yahoo! has been very generous and also friendly to the advertisers. That's why MSN put a stop to the link info.
A very short explanation will explain it all. If you had one hundred links from a URL Y! Explorer would count every one of them, now Yahoo! assigns a certain amount of qualifying criteria behind link info.
Do you remember a while back when you could report spam links to your website?
Well I do and I reported plenty of them, my ranks in Yahoo have gone crazy.
You are better off not showing thousands of links from crap sites. It takes up space from real content.
Take for instance the Year 2000 Bug. Why was there a bug, they were trying to save space. 231007 takes less bits than 23102007 EH?
Do you want Yahoo! to index your site or your links?
If it wasn't for the traffic I get from Y! I'd be living in the gutter.
OTH if I relied on the multitudes of traffic I get from G with the miserable ROI I'd die.
Log into you Google Webamster's Fools account and look at your links.
OTH I would guess you are not looking for your links but who links to your enemies or competitors. If that's the case too bad. Otherwise I'll probably get crap email about a link exchange. If that's the case isn't that like screwin' your neighbor's spouse.
YA, that's what I think, I wanna know how many links Joe Blow has and then I can send then send to a badly scripted email about what a great site I have please link with me or my Hindu Boss will chastise me in public.
Hey if you got to sign on to see the real count, they're doing it for a reason.
Dan
Now quit sending the stupid link exchange requests!

if that's the case well it seems that Yahoo is making all their efforts to bring out the best of those sites by dropping inefficient backlinks and retain the quality ones

I'd noticed some changes in our rankings for the end of October as well. My initial thoughts were that the drops in our rankings were the result of a site outage. Changes in the Yahoo algorithm may actually be the cause.
