Yahoo Takes care of "nofollow"
Hi all
Can Any body tell that yahoo takes care of “nofollow” link or not. I searched my site in yahoo and check that it is getting back links from those forums, which has “nofollow”. Try this and give me answer.

Re: Yahoo Takes care of "nofollow"
Try these search terms:
nofollow on links site: Yahoo!
and as a comparison
nofollow on links site: Google

I guess "no follow" still works.

Getting nofollow links is useless, your site is not getting any benifit from those links.

HUH? Not only does this increase your exposer to search engines but people click on them.
Think green as in cash not the size of your green bar.

Re: Yahoo Takes care of "nofollow"
I am very curious about this topic. I understood that Yahoo follows 'no-follows' for content but doesn't count that toward your 'trust' factor with Y!
From Yahoo:
Quote:
|
Yahoo! Slurp obeys the rel="nofollow" attribute for links. Webmasters and blog owners can apply a rel="nofollow" attribute to any hyperlink on their page to indicate that the link may not be an approved or trusted link. Slurp may use a "nofollow" link for discovering content, but the link will not be considered an approved link for consideration for ranking of the target page.
|
So, if that's true, why would I find a link like that in the 'backlinks' to a site? I was checking backlinks today for canonical issues and I saw a link from a blog that I thought had no-follow. I checked and it does, but that page shows in my backlinks.
If it doesn't count toward my site, why is it counted in my backlinks? Search engines are odd, yeah, they are.

Re: Yahoo Takes care of "nofollow"
There is more to a link than nofollow. A link is content on the site. If they deleted nofollow on (some) links, they should require a higher price. Isn't that natural? Isn't that the nature of a free market economy?
The only thing you can blame them for IMO is how they inform webmasters about their policy. Could that information be better?
Example is this an unnatual price policy for a site with high traffic? - Price month for a link with nofollow USD 10.
- Price month for a link without nofollow USD 50.

Re: Yahoo Takes care of "nofollow"
Granted, but why is it listed in my backlinks? I would have thought that if it's in my backlinks it is counted toward ranking ...

Re: Yahoo Takes care of "nofollow"
I would not expect the list of links to have any relation to the SEO value from that link. Remember, that tool was not created for SEO purposes. It is there as a webmaster utility. It gives you a way of seeing who has links to you so that you can, for example, contact the linker if there is an error in the link or if you move a page, etc.

Kgun hit this right on the head.
A link is a link. Even with the "nofollow" attribute applied, the link will still generate traffic, it still gets counted as a backlink, it just doesn't pass along PR or TR.
Every single link in Yahoo! answers has the "nofollow" attribute applied and they're showing up in Google mere minutes after being posted.
People need to stop placing so much value in PageRank and TrustRank.

Google SE not count nofollow links. Your site is not getting any benifit from those links.
I think Yahoo does follow the no follow link.
Nofollow links to my Article directory counted on Yahoo.

Re: Yahoo Takes care of "nofollow"
Every search engine that follows links besides Google follows "no follow".
This for the time being is the rule, nofollow is a Google specific attribute and as far as I can tell, looking at backlinks this holds to be true.
Eventually Google will give up on this idiotic no follow crap, it was meant to be a way to discourage blog spam and now has turned into such a convoluted way to scuplt PR and scam link buyers and sellers alike.
It can't go on, I'm laughing as I type this, because every holiday season Google pulls this kind of crap to sell advertising.
Go ahead and put no-follows on your links and while you're at it why not scream to Google: This Site Has Been Optimized for Google!!
Don't believe a damn thing you hear from the Googleplex!
