How to rank well in yahoo?

What are the best factor to get good rank in yahoo? Does Back link importance in yahoo is like google or on page optimization is still the best factor for yahoo.

It is my opinion that is you optimize for Google you will do fine in Yahoo and MSN. I would not over think the SEO process. Just concentrate on the core principles of SEO:

I went years with high rankings on Yahoo, and google ignored me. Now Yahoo ignores me, and I am getting a ton of hits from Google. I am clueless!

That's why many say SEO is more an art than a science. anyway its an art that requires some patience and good scientific understanding on the variables SEs evaluate... and some commonsense. By the way.. have you made any changes to your site recently?

These search engines work in a funny way. You can never predict where you stand!!
I'm assuming you get a lot of your potential customers from yahoo and that's the reason you want to increase optimization there? Because that stats say it all...if nobody from yahoo even converts on your site do you still find it necessary to optimize and focus your efforts on high rankings through yahoo queries? Just some questions to think about

Yahoo focuses more on onpage optimization (keyword density, h1 tags, quality contents...)

And Build more qualty links...

Yahoo focus on page optimization. The optimization for both search engines is same. However, nobody knows the algorithm of search engine so there is no prediction when you will get ranked in yahoo or when in Google or when in both. No body can predict this.

thanks all, great advice. Yahoo has completely ingnored me now, but sales are up and Google is treating me well. Guess that is all that matters!!

I optimise based on content, H1 tags, and the key subject of the page in question.
Recently yahoo is giving me more traffic than google, with MSN not fat behind - however I have not changed anything.
I think Google has changed its algorithm which is probably the cause.

Link poularity does play a part with Yahoo but I've found that having a title tag, meta description and on page text all including your key phrase is probably more important and will get good results in Yahoo!

Been working hard to optimize for google and finally have crept on to page 1 for my prime keyword, bunk beds and am getting good clicks. But still nowhere to be seen on yahoo? Not sure what to do next as, after all the hard work I do not want to mess up my google position for Yahoo. Ideas please
