What are the best factor to get good rank in yahoo? Does Back link importance in yahoo is like google or on page optimization is still the best factor for yahoo.

It is my opinion that is you optimize for Google you will do fine in Yahoo and MSN. I would not over think the SEO process. Just concentrate on the core principles of SEO:

These search engines work in a funny way. You can never predict where you stand!!
I'm assuming you get a lot of your potential customers from yahoo and that's the reason you want to increase optimization there? Because that stats say it all...if nobody from yahoo even converts on your site do you still find it necessary to optimize and focus your efforts on high rankings through yahoo queries? Just some questions to think about

Yahoo focus on page optimization. The optimization for both search engines is same. However, nobody knows the algorithm of search engine so there is no prediction when you will get ranked in yahoo or when in Google or when in both. No body can predict this.

I optimise based on content, H1 tags, and the key subject of the page in question.
Recently yahoo is giving me more traffic than google, with MSN not fat behind - however I have not changed anything.
I think Google has changed its algorithm which is probably the cause.

Link poularity does play a part with Yahoo but I've found that having a title tag, meta description and on page text all including your key phrase is probably more important and will get good results in Yahoo!

Been working hard to optimize for google and finally have crept on to page 1 for my prime keyword, bunk beds and am getting good clicks. But still nowhere to be seen on yahoo? Not sure what to do next as, after all the hard work I do not want to mess up my google position for Yahoo. Ideas please

You're right, nobody can predict with absolute accuracy, but when I take on a site I can make a good guess ... and I usually am wrong: the site usually ranks well sooner than I told the client.

Optimization for both SEs is not the same. As you said, Yahoo focuses more on-page and we 're pretty darn sure Google is at least a little more skewed in its algorithm toward links. So a webmaster might spend a lot of time developing links and do very well in Google, but not as well in Yahoo. With a little more focus on site, Yahoo rankings could improve.

I have always had better results listings in google than yahoo. MSN is somewhere in the middle. At least that is my experience.

I'm leaning toward sending Paulie and Furio. Being such an efficient team, I'd expect to get the most "BANG" for my buck.

I have just as many pages indexed in Yahoo as I do in Google but 90% of my search engine traffic comes from Google so I really don't care that much about how well I do in Yahoo.

It really all depends on where your traffic comes from. If you have determined that Yahoo is where it's at then I would focus on the on page factors.

Following your statement implies that anyone who ranks in the top 10 on Google would see the same results in the other major SE's. Unfortunately, that's just not the case.

Sorry to say. But it is now not any secret, everyone know how to get good ranking in google, yahoo and msn.
of course the "Algo" is not yet revealed but it is common knowledge that the would be based on Content and links only. If you have good and unique content along with a number of links pointing to your site, you must rock the web. The only exception is if your site is not banned.

I have many more pages indexed in Yahoo than Google.
Yahoo puts many more times the load on my server than Google does.
Google brings me 30 times the traffic that Yahoo brings.
So either my ranking in Yahoo really sucks or nobody is searching Yahoo
- at least not for what I have.

So I would really like to know how to get Yahoo to increase the number of
readers it sends me - up to the same number of readers that Google does
WDC - and I don't mean by reducing Google's traffic down to the pittance that comes from Yahoo.

zeruel - first, that is not true, second, even if you do get good ranking, traffic from
Y and M are miniscule.

Here is a better question for this thread:
- who gets 10 times the traffic from Yahoo or MSN than they get from Google?
