If you wanna to rank well on GOOGLE or Yahoo or any other search engines then u need to optimize your ethical way... You need to build some relevant backlinks which is relevant to your site...

I'm with Jaan on this one. Just optimize your website. Usually your focus is on Google because you want the visitors from Google first since they refer a lot more of them. And you usually get them first from Google because they´re the fastest indexing engine. So you end up with optimizing for Google, though it really doesn't matter who you optimize for.

Titles, meta keywords, meta descriptions, <h1> tags, <p> tags and html links with the right keywords in them. That's your basic SEO. Get these things right and you will do good in all search engines.

I am 100% sure of this because the site statistics of the hundreds of sites I have worked on over the years tell me that the percentages of visitors they get from each engine, pretty much match the market share that each engine has. There is some variation of course depending on the subject of the site and where the business is located.

In most of the rest of the world that percentage is much higher. Here in Brazil it's like 83% and I read somewhere that for example in Germany it's like 95%.

I guess it is because Google is the only one that makes a real effort outside the usa.

I think you must concentrate on every factor of SEO ....Do the best of all things such as on page optimization, get quality backlinks , unique content and much more ..... i think you must not wait for doing only one thing and must go for all .....because all that is a part of seo and cant get results on one. Whats the problem in doing total Seo ? Dont just don't concentrate on ranking in Yahoo only.

Okay, lemme give you an idea what black hat SEO is. For the record, it's merely any unethical ploy that you engage in optimizing your site to any search engine. 2. Make your website user and SE friendly, using text links instead of javascript, make it neat and make it with structure.
3. Yahoo does particularily like rss feeds from sites, so if you can include an rss feed for your site which you can update.
4. If you like to build links, then build backlinks just as you would normally, in a sensible manner.
5. Submit some QUALITY articles to article directories. Check out this DP post Free Marketing Resources
6. Keep updating your content.
7. Repeat steps 1-7

And that will give you the rankings you are looking for.

SE's are really not that complicated when you break it down into smaller steps and follow common sense guidlines. Sure none of the above is filler or crap. But it works

Try to rank on G on the top 5 rankings and soon after you'll see..you'll be appearing on yahoo...you can also read yahoo guideline factors in order to get some tips...it's an experimental thing...

Unless your site has been banned from Google, you can't reasonably assume that Yahoo! would ever provide twice as much traffic, never mind ten times as much. They simply don't receive the search volume that Google does so, given the number of people who use Google, it would stand to reason than the majority of your traffic would come from that source.

As far as the traffic you're getting from Yahoo!, it is what it is. You can't get blood from a stone. Realistically, Yahoo!'s not likely to perform much better for you than it currently is.

It's great that you rank well there but most people are much more concerned with ranking well on Google, and rightly so. You'd be wise to focus your efforts there.

It happens, this is pulled from one of my sites. I have a different website that you'll see quite the reverse which is built in quite a similar fashion, promoted in a similar fashion, etc.

I aim for google (sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't), if I don't what choice do I have but to settle for yahoo/msn? (which I always seem to get)

Take what they give you, move on and continue to publish more.

I suggest to focus optimizing in google in that way you'll get good result in yahoo. They have different algorithm. . . yahoo count nofollow links while google not.

In the US for September of 08, Hitwise reports:

You may find amalgamted stats which combine MSN with Live search but this is accurate enough for the average Joe to realize that Google and Yahoo! are the big dogs.

Give emphasis to the following factors in oder to rank well in Yahoo-

In terms of the structure of your website, you should try to make the site easy to navigate and to keep things simple.

Include a site map that links to all of the pages on your website - Yahoo finds sites easier to crawl when they have a site map in place and you'll also find it a benefit with the other major search engines.

You'll also need some good inbound links to do well in Yahoo. Consider the anchor text that is being used in those inbound links - you want to use your keywords within the anchor text but don't overdo it - you may be penalized if you do.

Finally, avoid black hat techniques. Cloaking, doorway pages and hidden text are all great ways to get your website completely removed from the Yahoo rankings.

Regarding #3...sure would like to know more about RSS feeds....do javascript based feed help! Any expert advice on RSS feeds sure would be appreciated!

Back to the topic..Currently one of my sites is ranked well in yahoo.ca..can't seem to find it on yahoo.com (at least first 5 pages) not complaining seeing any of my sites ranked makes my week!
