google rankings good yahoo bad!

hi all

I am starting to rank ok for my keywords is google but not in Yahoo and most of others.
I have optimised my pages on page and have been building links with keywords in anchor text in loads of directories.

My site is Lathes - Machine Tool Directory, Machine Tool Manufacturers, Machine Tool Dealers and my keywords are 'lathes', 'machine tool manufacturers' and 'machine tool dealers' and 'machine tool directory'.

What am i doing wrong for other search engines?
Is there anything anyone can suggest?

I see this often for industrial websites like yours. Every time it usually has to do with the lack of content on pages that are under performing. Where Google relies heavily on IBLs (internal and external) other SE's like MSN and Yahoo look at content much more. Try adding more content to your pages. Most just are pages full of links right now.

Also are you even selling products yourself on this website or is it simply made to get advertising revenue from AdSense and other banners?

its a site to promote machine tools.

It does not sell anything its for advertising and banners etc.

the adsense is simply on there while still finishing the development. it will be preplaced by proper adverts ( hopefully ) soon!

If you wanna have good rankings on both.. I think there's a need for you to study your competitors in google, and in yahoo..

I'm having similar problems with Yahoo but it seems to be on the older sites of mine that have tons of incoming links and should be fine....and were doing fine. They've just been slowly falling in Yahoo for a while.

I got Google Slapped two months ago on one of my sites...Thank God for Yahoo!

I have never had much traffic from Yahoo. One thing I discovered is that if I put plain text at the top of my pages, I mean the very top of the page, Yahoo would pick them up as keywords and index me high in their search engine results.
