Default Yahoo loses more ground to Google

Yahoo has posted its first quarter financial figures and has disappointed the market.

Yahoo's profit disappoints.

Although sales were up 9% to $1.18 billion, profits fell 11% to $142 million.

Its early days but the much heralded Panama system has yet to show any significant impact.

The same report announces that Google is expected to unveil a 73% uplift in revenue for the same period.

In my opinion, with Google taking market share, Panama won't solve the basic problem. People prefer to search with Google.

My stats are now showing that Ask and Live are outstripping Yahoo, leaving it as 'non runner'
I saw that Sky News is releasing an all singing all dancing new home page. And yes - it's Google powered!

Yahoo would do better having Paris Hilton as its ceo, than with their current ceo Terry Semel.

They have had the se world at their fingertips for many years now, but just haven't grasped it.

Unlike ctabuk, we are showing Yahoo as still #2 and way ahead of MS Search. Our numbers look pretty much like Nielsen//Netratings.

However, I think Google has some advantages that are essentially impossible to overcome. If this is true, are Yahoo and Microsoft going to continue stuffing money down a rat hole in a nose-to-nose competition with Google or are they going to put the money to better use somewhere else?
