Default Say GoodBye To Overture Tool

I just read a post by theGypsy on another forum about this and wanted to add my two cents.

When you have a tool that has been as widely used as the http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...ry/suggestion/ I think it's crazy to stop updating the tool and discontinue it. But that's what Yahoo is doing. If Google had owned the tool, I'm sure we would have seen the tool updated, online and surrounded my AdSense Ads.

But then it is Yahoo that said, "It's not our goal to be No. 1 in Internet search. We would be happy to maintain our market share.” And it appears it's all they want to do. They updated their ads to be like Google and made no attempt to improve on what Google already had in place and now they are removing pages that get traffic. I'm not sure that there is anyone out there trying to compete with Google.

Yahoo has already said their happy being No.2 and MSN doesn't seem smart enough to remove someone that stupid from No.2, there is no way they can get to be No.1. I think the webmasters are ready to get behind anyone that is willing to make a half ass attempt at being No. 1 but then I really don't think it will be a search engine that will remove Google from their position.

At the rate social media sites are evolving, it is just a matter of time before something comes along that is able to deliver information and be more sociable than Google. Google will be the first to know when this site comes along although Yahoo may never know about it.

Default We hardly knew ye...

I for one am really going to miss that tool if it goes the way of the dodo. Took some manual deleting or a Wordpad macro to get a clean export - but featured far more iterations than WordTracker or the Google tool.

Thanks Chris,

I guess the fact that Yahoo is unable to keep their own tools online is a good reason to stay away from their hosting.

According to Chris Yahoo has no intentions of getting rid of the Overture keyword tool. The problem is that they are incapable of keeping the tool online.

How in the world is Yahoo ever going to compete against Google if they are incapable of keeping one simple tool online? Not to worry here is another tool that seems to work better than Yahoo's.

Wordtracker has free keyword tool now. Maybe this will beat overture tool a lot.
