Default Yahoo Directory Express Submit Admin Issues

I like the Yahoo Directory express submit. As long as you design a decent website, your $299 insures your client of positioning themselves in a great directory with great link-back weight. It always proves to be a bonus in our SEO endevors.

Hovever, recently my control panel has errors. When I try to get Yahoo to fix it, I get asked to supply a date of birth on the account. My problem is that I had an employee create the account years ago and no date we can think of matches. You would think this is something that could be fixed. Well, you would be wrong.

The tech department sends me to billing. Billing sends me to the tech department. I probably logged 12 hours of phone calls and countless e-mails and I just gave up.

I will start a new account with them, but I have several domains that are listed and will renew so I am stuck.

Can anyone relate to this?

Default I can beat you for the agony...

Before we handled the account, someone, not at the clients company, submitted an inclusion with the wrong company name. The description of activities is OK, and the URL is correct, but the company name in the title is wrong - it confuses end users that see it.

Neither we nor the client even know who submitted the entry. We can't submit a new one for that URL (entry exists and we can't prove we're the original submitter).

Very frustrating. We'd gleefully hand over the submission fee just to regain control of the listing. But we keep getting sent into a loop, that could be broken if only we could prove we submitted the entry... Which we can't. The person that did, no longer cares and is, in any case, unknown. A missing use case at Yahoo :)

Cheers, JeremyC.

Default Welcome

Welcome to the big wide wonderful world of Yahoo customer service.

Their online service is very good, the specialize in that. But if you have lost a piece of information like a wallet ID and you have set up the account for someone else....as the Don would say "fugedaboutit".
I took over the Web Mastering for another several years ago and everything was sailing until I needed to update something. I had to track down the guy over 5 states to learn that his dog's name was Rosey before I could proceed.
There just no easy way around it with them.....you have to have all your info locked up and ready to go.

Over all i apreciate this caution on their part, but during that episode I was less appreciative of it.

We are also appreciative of the fact that we paid our inclusion few several years ago when it was a one time fee. To have to relist and pay the recurring fee would be very annoying

Default Yahoo!'s Webmaster Resources

I take it you've tried Yahoo!'s Webmaster Resources

Default yahoo birthday verification

I had the exact same problem with them about a year ago. I wanted to cancel a service and they asked for my birthday and I told them and they told me it was wrong. I politely told them that no that is my correct birthday. And they kept telling me no thats not your birthday. Hmm who do you think knows my birthday better, me or yahoo? Well to make a long story short I never got access to that account and had to do a chargeback with my credit card company to get my money back.
