Default Is Yahoo on the Decline?

Google seems to be besting Yahoo at every turn, even snatching deals from underneath them when their negotiations inevitably stall.

Can Yahoo rebound, or will Google continue to exert even more dominance in search, social networking, and the associated advertising partnerships that come with each of those markets?

Read this and let me know what you think.

Joe,

Welcome to WPW.

I moved your post over to the Yahoo Forum.

MSN and the GOOG here, I rarely reference YAHOO.

Yahoo is now under pressure to buy facebook, innovation is the key and Google rules there. Every innovative mind wants to be a part of Google including me :). They are damn classy, i love their culture, thinking and everything except the google talk.

And personally I think Yahoo has lost the knack of natural search results. I keep seeing MIVA ad sites with crap SEO doing rather too well.

Where is this word "dominance" coming from considering Yahoo still shows the most used search engine on the Internet. I cannot attest to the other points made, but do reject the concept Google is taking over the farm.

Sure the competition is tight, but Yahoo hasn't sat still watching Google turn into the "Cookie Monster."

Based on my website records Yahoo brings 10-12 times the traffic to my websites than Google does. Google makes back links more important than useful content. Most people are looking for content, and do not give a fat rats butt about back links. This is why Yahoo produces more relevant results than Google.

Considering Yahoo is the default browser for AT&T, I don't think they have much to worry about from Google. DSL is growing at a far faster rate than cable modems and will overtake them in subscribers in the near future. That includes FTTx that offers 15 meg downstream, four (4) phone lines and IPTV.

Google may want to partner with them.

When you need real information for something, then Yahoo is the best place to go, MSM is approximatly the same. That's I think Yahoo is still there, and not on decline.

Default Yahoo and Google

Its true that there is a tight competition between yahoo and google but at the same time it is not that google is taking over the whole traffic.

Yahoo still has the name and fame among net users.

Default Is Yahoo on the decline?

After 10 years of my.yahoo.com use as my home pages, I do admit I finally changed it over to google's personalized page.

I still love Yahoo and the effort they are making to update the user interface, but they need to change their approach to their PPC program.

Yahoo is coming out shortly with a new overhaul to the old Overture platform. I can only hope it will save their shrinking profit margins.

Default New Yahoo PPC.

I'm curious on how the new Overture/Yahoo PPC marketing platform will do? If anybody is familiar with the time it takes to get an ad listed in yahoo's ppc, i think they'll appreciate it.

They are rolling it out on a very limited basis. I believe you can look to the end of this year through the beginning of next year for the release. I think they are out of beta, but the new platform is being checked for quality control.
