Default Cross Linking

Not to get off of the discussion about Yahoo placement because this ties into previous posts. I have a website that pertains to the real estate and foreclosure. I am going to put up sites that will have a one way link on their homepage to my "Mother Site" could I run into problems that could be considered cross linking?

I do not have good results with Yahoo on my keyterm "Stop Foreclosure" but do pretty well on google search, any ideas?

site is www.877youkeep.com

Cross linking seems to be OK as long as it isn't abused. What amount of abuse does it take to qualify as internal cross linking only Yahoo knows. I also think if the websites are selling basically the same thing or providing the same info (you own both) this can cause Yahoo to question the cross linking as well.

Linking a minisite to your "mother" website could cause you issues.

Default Back in Yahoo

We're back! After six weeks at number 42-46 in Yahoo for our most popular search term, we have returned to page one (currently 9).

If Yahoo did indeed change algo why is it only temporary? I suppose if we knew for sure why these burps really occur we'd all be a lot richer. Thanks for sharing my concern.

I did not realize that Yahoo had datacenters like google. We moved back to normal most times I search at home and elsewhere, but if I search from my office computer we are still down a bit since the change in August.

Default My ranking changes almost every hour

Well I could say that I'm glad to hear others are having these sort of problems too, but I'm not glad, I'm mad. I've had worse problems than jumping rankings every week or month or so, mine change almost every hour.

I'm a new site, so we don't really have a large collection of backlinks yet, and we don't even have a Google PageRank yet. But, when I do a search using the keywords for one of my pages "TS Glenfield & Associates" in Yahoo, my site (http://www.search-for-servers.com) is listed as the third an fourth results sometimes. I can run the same search again in an hour or so, and that page doesn't even show in the results (and I go through however many results there are). Then, it could go back to #3 again in the next hour, or go back to #3 the next day. Any reasoning on this? Is it because we're a new site (launched in September)? I'm getting upset by this as it is really confusing me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is it not true that the more websites your weblink is on the better search page result you get because your website is submitted to various directories?

www.casasderuidoso.com

We've now seemed to settle into #12 - #14 for the search term "ruidoso" (#10 on Google, #7 - #8 on MSN). Yahoo still continues to do some unusual things. I'm finding Google a lot more firendly these days. Watch, this all changes tomorrow!

1. You are using "tiny text" on a page and can be considered spamming. You use font size 1.

2. You have text with foreground color near background color. Utilizing the same or similar font color on the same or similar colored background is considered as spamming. Make sure that the font color differs from the background color by at least 10%.

3. There is repetition of words in your page body text. Check your text carefully and make sure that you're not repeating words over and over again, which is considered to be spamming.

Some general tips:
1. Your title tag must be the first tag on your page.
2. Avoid using stop words in your title tag, like "and". Better use &
3. Be sure to use your important keyword phrase once in your description tag, and use it toward the beginning of the tag.
4. Don't use irrelevant META tags. Get rid of these: <meta name="revisit-after" content="15 days">
<meta name="generator" content="Microsoft FrontPage 6.0">
<meta name="CLASSIFICATION" content="travel">

And my last tip, check with our tool your pages too. You can get some good hints there: http://www.seoworkers.com/search-eng.../analyzer.html

Thanks Webnauts! Some great tips I would have not thought about.

One question...As you saw we have a website devoted to property management and real estate. For the past year, we have exchanged reciprocal links with 40 other property management companies all over the country (the block at the bottom of the index page). Considering the current emphasis on back links would it be advantageous for us to divide into three or four groups, each group linking to another group? Would the links appear to be one way, since they come from another group? Would the search engines follow the links through all groups? This seems too simple to actually work. Anybody tried anything similar?

Thanks...happy holidays!

73 links checked for family-friendly content.
No questionable links detected.

Missing from Googles index:
All pages scanned are in Google index.

Thanks...a neat little tool!

I read this post again and I have now recognized that I did not understand what you really mean. Sorry for that. Does someone else understand the idea?

And by the way, to your first question in this thread, if you can get your high rankings back,I must say I have serious doubts about that.

IMO you certainly need a redesign to improve your rankings. If someone disagrees, I would love to hear why not and what could be done otherwise.

Instead of 30 reciprocal links, divide them into three groups of ten. Group A agrees to provide a one way link to group B. Group B to group C and group C to group A (whew!) Instead of 30 reciprocal links, everyone would have ten inbound links.

We've been working on a redesign for three months. It debuts in two weeks. I appreciate your input, Webnauts, as well as anyone else that has any ideas!

I hope that your redesign is human and SEO friendly too. Otherwise it will not change anything. ;)
