Default www to ww on home page. Lost my rankings

Hi,
My site has been number one on Yahoo for some time now.
This morning it dropped 124 postions.
On checking I found this message

Error
Sorry, there has been an error: Please check that you are using the correct address and try again.
ww.mywebsite.co.uk

Somehow www.mysite.co.uk had changed to ww.mysite.co.uk
Has anyone seen this before and can give advice on how to get it back.
The site is 18 months old and I have nor resubmitted it.

Mark

Default edit your own dns zones through WHM

It's possible to have no www at all.

I think this is something to do with the DNS zone's for the domain and hosting!

Ask your host and Domain Name supplier.

edit your own dns zones through WHM

Google DNS zone search

Here's a few Video Help DNS links

I agree with TrafficProducer. Best guess would be dns issues.

Could be at the host provider (login to your hosting website control panel take a peek at the DNS see if you see the ww. in there somewhere).

Also could be at the registrant (domain provider)check in your domain name control panel, many domain registrants provide DNS services so your zones may be there. Again look for the ww.

last thing, might just be a messup with someone between the engine spider and your server not fully caching your DNS .. if that's the case it'll clear up on it's own in a few days.

Best of luck, let us know what the actual problem turns out to be.

flanok,

Do you have the exact phrase your being found that this is happening on Yahoo? It appears that someone is just linking to you using the ww.shopbam.co.uk:

ww.shopbam.co.uk/?shopping

Maybe a affiliate or a coding error by yourself?

Either way just create a 301 redirect from ww.shopbam.co.uk to www.shopbam.co.uk/ and problem will work itself out.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Apologies for my late reply.

I did find some links to my site with ww instead of www. What was strange, was how 2 links against thousands could make so much difference.

Anyway my rankings are back and my www page has reapeared. I did email Yahoo, I assume it is coincidence that it has all been sorted now.
