Default Help - I'm doing well in MSN/Google, bad in Yahoo

Hi,
I need your help guys

I have created several sites a few months ago. My sites have been submitted
to the search engines in February.
One site is about models, the other is about mobile phone themes,
the third is a celebrities gallery.
I have a very good ranking in MSN and Google for my sites,
not for the same keywords though which makes it funny, and
receive dozens of hits daily from both search engines.
My sites are indexes in Yahoo, but show no sign of ranking
and I receive very few hits from Yahoo.

For example for my mobile phones portal www.mobile-fun.org
I rank 1st page in MSN for "mobile themes" and "free mobile themes"
and rank 1st /2nd page in Google for "nokia s60 themes", "cartoon
theme nokia 7610" and many similar keywords.
But no sign of hits from Yahoo

Has somebody else experienced the same issue ? Is it because
the sites are new ?
What do you recommend to have a good ranking in Yahoo ?
Thanks

dburbon has a nice chart that may help you understand Yahoo:

I am having the same problem. Number 1 in Google and MSN, number 17 in Yahoo.

Thanks for the link to the pdf. I will tinker with the Meta tags and see if it changes anything.

SeoforGoogle,

many thanks for the compliment.

Jeffposaka, Funlounge,

its the alignment or meta tags with content that is the key to Yahoo.

what is the implication of this? ..i have done exactly that?

strangely, recently with the release of new pages and a press release at one point almost the whole first page was mine in Yahoo, then it settled at Pos 4, for a while, and then over about a week has slipped back to Page 3 or something.

should you not link newish sites together?

Cross linking is a tricky road with Yahoo. I am seen some clients where it works perfectly fine and some where Yahoo has removed the website from ranking.

Basically if you interlink websites you own, where the content is basically the same, you risk Yahoo seeing this and removing you.

Default hmm.

Ok thanks. the content isnt really the same, and its more like a 3 or 4 way linking scheme, but something to consider.

can anyone elaborate on why yahoo shows 15 links and MSN about 40, or what the different criteria are for if an engine considers a link valid?

Google steadfastly shows no links at all, although these are the stats from Back Link Analyser, with the MSN, Yahoo & Alltheweb boxes selected.

Links

Oneway 53
Reciprocal 5
total link Popularity 35
Total C Class 10

I noticed that Yahoo starts scoring your web site much better in the rank for the keyword if you have many pages on the site that contain that keyword in the title.

And Yahoo is always slower. My recent statistics proves it. I was doing link exchange with my new tool and...

MSN - the fastest - 10 days and I have 1st position.
Google - bit slower, but who cares - 2 weeks and 1st page.
Yahoo - the slowest - and not soon keen on link exchange, prefers good titling. I run article directory on my forex site and now - 1st page in yahoo for a quite tough keyword.

Now you see from what I take that opinion about Yahoo. Real case study. Personal experience.

Exactly as I have seen first hand, i had interlinkedsites removed from yahoo just this way, but direct competition with the same approach is still flying high. I would guess it is not an automated remove but more of a flagged item then removed.

what do you mean "alignment or meta tags with content"?

you do some alignment to your text ?

or you just mean that you have to include all the meta tags in your content?

Make sure your meta tags match your content properly. Also dont spam in your meta tags with multiple instances of your target keyword phrase
