SPAMMING.... or.... Explain this black hat technique

Ok all, here is one for an explanation.

I go to yahoo to see how we rank for Nipple Jewelry. Of course I am curious.. we sell the stuff.

The first site is www.body -jewelry-center.com/bodyjewelry. htm (spaces included here for effect).

This site is nothing more than google adwords. So nosey me, I look at the code. here it is. Please note the Meta Name and Meta Keywords....

Hmm. I haven't seen that in a while :-|

In the early years of the net, unrelated keywords were used in the meta tags for maximum exposure. It was used by many sectors but the main sector that used this technique was the porn industry.

These people have figured that debt consolidation is big business at the mo (how many ads on the TV at the mo?) and assumed that they will have a piece of that audience. They're Pagerank is 0 out of 10 so that should tell them something about their technique.

I am unsure if this practice falls under Black Hat technique, Spam or just plain stupid.

I was intrigued by the site's "en-gb" language, implying British English was being used. Sure enough the business address is located just 20 miles away from me in Kent, England. Despite the US hosting and pricing in dollars!!!

Beats me how Yahoo can place it above you.

The page your looking at is not the page that the Yahoo spider is seeing. Go to the ranking and view the cache of that page and you will see what the spider sees. You are being redirected to some other page with AdSense and links.

Tha answer to your question lies in the Yahoo cache version of this document.

The cached version yahoo has on record is full of keywords related to "Nipple Jewelry". This is what their search engine results are based on.

The actual meta data seen by yahoo is:

Basically they are spamming the hell out of the keywords. They are most likely using a server side detect to accomplish this.... or yahoo is way outa date on its cache.

Usually their is a "Cached" tag right by the URL on the SERP:

body-jewelry-center.com/enlighten/nipple jewelry=1 - More from this site - Save - Block

For some reason it is not there anymore, it was earlier, but you can see on other rankings the "Cached" tag is available.

This is what appears to have happened...

They took the same page of "content" and used it for every link from the root directory. As soon as the pages were indexed, that content was changed to the adsense pages you see now.

At this point it appears to be Yahoo's problem and not Google's. I don't know how Yahoo handles duplicate content nor when they handle it, if at all.

Here's a little something to check out when you have a chance. Do a search on Google or Yahoo for the name in the upper left corner of the adsense pages they're using. Perhaps add a .com to the end of it and see what you see. :)
