Yahoo is showing Inktomi results
Just now i have checked Yahoo and find very different results from Google. Secondly Yahoo has removed "Google Technology" sponsor tag from bottom of its search results.
Finally Yahoo is showing Inktomi results.
My source said Yahoo will move into Inktomi on after January 15th, 2004. ;-)
Please confirm.

I am still seeing Google web results at Yahoo with the Google acknowledgement at the bottom of the page.
Might have been a brief test, there have been a few of those reported.

difference in results
I'm seeing slightly different results for the search term "dog sleds" but Yahoo still has the "Powered By Google" at the bottom of their page.
This could indicate Yahoo pulls from a different index?
Also, RLRouse talked about another Google update...

From the research I have done, Yahoo pulls from all over the place including inktomi, google and dmoz. I did read your report Garret and it will bring back to good old days when I see the "powered by inktomi" on the bottom of the page.

Inktomi
As above, I still see Google results in Yahoo. Which search engines do you believe you are showing Inktomi results to your queries?

Inktomi results are showing sometimes for some users for short times on Yahoo - its just part of the testing that has been going on. Google still appear to be used for the vast majority of searches for now.
The search engines that use Inktomi are listed on the Inktomi website:
http://www.inktomi.com/customers/
I use positiontech to check inktomi results (no adverts):

Slurp Activity
I talked with Jim Hedger yesterday and he said Slurp, Inktomi's bot, was crawling like crazy over the weekend.
I think this is a sign of the big switch coming, but he thinks the switch will be a gradual transition.
I'm guessing that since Yahoo's showing different results than Google right now that this means they're at least integrating some of Inktomi's index.
Unless they're pulling from Jayde.com... ;)

We have a client who got booted from Google about a month ago. We just submitted his site to Inktomi via their paid inclusion service. He called this morning to say that he showed up on MSN although we have no LookSmart funding. We checked on Yahoo and he is there but not on Google. Here is the site www.discountmotorcyclehelmet.com and the term motorcycle helmet.

I have one site that is often crawled by inktomi but my other 4 sites I don't see inktomi much. Does this mean I won't have any Yahoo listings now?

Your client is listed in Google.
Search on Google - inurl: www.discountmotorcyclehelmet.com
MSN web page results pull from Inktomi. Looksmart is for the MSN directory listings which are being dropped by MSN so are not always showing up now.

Yahoo - Your Thoughts Please ...
I am anxiously awaiting Yahoo switching from Google to Inktomi. The Inktomi search results I am seeing right now on Msn and Hotbot are terrific for my keywords.
Does any one have any thoughts on whether these are the results that Yahoo will display when the switch occurs? Will Inktomi like Google change algorithms before the switch? ... soon after?
Thanks!

Well I am showing "Powered by HP" in the header of the search results. Has anybody seen that?

Jumped on Yahoo
Tell you this, for 3 of our search terms we were in the 100 to 300 range on Google and Yahoo, a year ago we were in the top 20 on both for the same terms and have held in the top 20 on those terms on other major engines. The day Yahoo dropped Google we jumped on Yahoo back into the 20's and on Google no change.
Someone here said some where, hang on 2004 will be a bumpy ride. That was a hell of a bump..

Inktomi and Pay per Inclusion
With Inktomi results on Yahoo and now on MSN, is it a good idea to go ahead and pay the $39 and have a better chance of getting your site listed and fast?
Has anyone done this with any success?

This has come up several times in other threads in the last week, so I guess the mods will move this.....
Inktomi is a crawler based search engine like Google - if you have good links you will be in it and ranked.
Inktomi is not a pay for inclusion search engine. You do not have to pay to be in it. All the payment does is guarentee that you will be crawled every 48 hours. This would have no impact on your ranking unless you have a lot of fresh content added every few days.

Jack
You must have been crawled.
I searched Inktomi for jacksretail, kattskozykorner and http://automotiveparts-accessories.com and you came in at number one for all of them, so you are in the Inktomi index.
Were these the sites you are talking about?

Maybe we need another forum on getting high placement in Yahoo. I just checked and I am in. Site is only about 3 weeks old. Still nothing in Google or MSN, though.

Hi CBP:
I was mainly concerned with
http://kattskozykorner.com
http://clothing-to-go.com
http://sports-to-go.com
I do have 1 page from each of these for paid inclusion. But I'm hoping ink will come around and index the rest of the site too?
P.S. is there a way to see what pages have been indexed like the allinurl on Google?
