Default Overture Traffic Estimator

Has anyone tried using the Overture traffic estimator, well it can hardly be called that becuase its a complete waste of time, not only does it not report back collective totals such as the total search volume for say, 20 keywords but the whole process is a complete shambles, unlike google which takes about 5 minutes.

If you want to know the collective total for, say, 1000 keywords you would have to get out your calculator and add each individual one, if you try to paste the table into excell it appears as a jumbled mess of number and keywords.

why cant overture devise a simple traffic estimation tool.

Wow. I remember when I first started using overture... The estimation tool said I would pay about $100 a month.. 14 days later my $500 credit was exhausted.
OUCH!

Hey Leehill,

I had the same exact problem a couple of weeks ago. I had to come up with a reliable way to estimate traffic for websites (number of monthly visitors) from any kind of public data. The only tool I foun was Traffic Estimate but after extensive trial an comarison with real results, I found that the error range of its estimations is huge: more than half of the times it gives an error of more than 50%.
What I had to do is to come up with my obwn model, based on Alexa's "3 month average reach" public information, to estimate monthly traffic. I developed a couple of statistical models in Excel that seem to work pretty well (at least better than available tools). The explanation and the excel file are on my blog post
Website traffic estimation: My excel forecasting model

Hope it helps

Cheers

I haven't used overture myself but have some friends who have been burned by that. I still rely on Google keyword tool.
