Default how to tell where a website is ranked for a keyword/phrase?

How do tell where a keyword or keyword phrase ranks in Yahoo if it is there at all?

In other words, say that I want to know where my website is ranked for the keyword phrase "home business ideas", how would I go about doing that?

thanks

I know you can use digitalpoint for keyword ranking for google, but I'm not aware of a very useful one for Yahoo. I think a site like webmastertoolkit might have something, but I think the site is under maintenance at the moment.

Hi, home based business ideas,

Type home business ideas into the search box, click Search. Your site's ranking number is your ranking for you keyword combination.

Best,
RadarCat

That's brilliant RadarCat. But I think the problem arises when u don't find ur listing in the top 10 or top 20, and still want to know whats ur number ...

Cheers.

Default Yahoo Placement

I've found this site very helpful event though it can be really picky sometimes... It returns an "Error on Yahoo" occasionally but most of the time it performs as expected.

www.yahoosearchrankings.com

*You may have to put a + sign between multiple search terms. (i.e. search engine = search+engine)

Yes, both Yahoosearchrankings.com and googlerankings.com are quite good though they may not show you the actual result found in the search engines.

They do count the sponsored listings as results and occasionally I've seen it count the directory listing if the actual address shows up... But so far these are the best sites I've found, especially if your site isn't in the top 20-30 since it will search up to 1000.

It can really help to give you an idea of how much work you have ahead of you. Chances are if you don't show up in the first 1000 for your keyword, you may need to step back and re-evaluate your site content.

My site is SLOWLY moving on google but I watched it move on Yahoo 20-30 places at a time. I started watching it when it was somewhere in the 600's. Eventually it moved down and stuck at 190-220 for about two months then it jumped to #3 and has stayed there for about two months. Now I just use it to check the place of new words I'm targeting.

Hope this helps.

Pardon my blondless, but here's my approach:

I simply search for my keywords in various search engines. If I don't find them in the top 50 or so, I stop searching, as many will have done by that point.

Your trying to hit on a very competitive keyword phrase also. I think it's smarter to try a 3 or 4 word phrase when it's that tough, so you're on the right track I think. Make sure your title and content compliment your keywords and this will help the phrase(s) you're trying to hit.

SiteReportCard and SEOchat both have some good analyzers and helpful tools too!

Good luck!
