Yahoo UK submission no longer a one off fee

Has anyone noticed the change in the submission process to Yahoo UK directory? It used to be £199 one off fee but today when I went to do a submission it now has to be done through Yahoo.com Express with $299 annual recurring fee. I guess the answer relates to the "annual recurring" fee part! Does this make submitting to Yahoo even less worthwhile for UK companies now it is only a US based directory with a recurring annual fee?

How annoying, I had been thinking about submitting my site to yahoo uk, but I wont now!

I can't see how it can be justified at that price. A UK site wont be much use traffic wise, and is the PR from the particular page you'll be on worth $299 a year?

I'd rather spend that cash on pure advertising, like PPC advertising.
