Default Scratching my head something weird on yahoo search!!!

I was at my sister home today in the afternoon and they have sbc dsl. I did a search on certain keywords for my website at around 5:00 p.m. today. Whola my website is listed on top postion #1 on yahoo on several keyword not only 1. I was excited and jumping up and down :). It was just yesterday i checked my position and i was at 103 position so ofcourse i was happy to be #1.
Now is around 11:55 p.m. here at my home using my parent dail up but now i am NOT listed on top position for same keyword. The result are completely different and somewhat similar to old result. I don't know but is yahoo playing games with my eyes. Why the up and down in results!!!!

This has happened to me at least 4 times. I jumped from #75 to #1. Stayed a few days and sent to #62. Each time, I've wound up in a better position, and I am steadily moving higher.

But, I've found no one who knows why this happens. Others here have reported the same thing.

Default We've seen fluctuations as well.

All of the pages we've spent time optimizing have seen some fluctuation as well. We've gone from 1 - 4, then back to 2, then down to 5, then back to 1. We don't usually drop out of the top 5, but we see fluctuations, sometimes hourly.

Maybe you are seeing your results at a particular point in time during a "Bubble Sort" or "Quick Sort" or similar sorting routine.

update 03/03/05
ok after long time i went to my sis place. Again same result i was ranking top within 10 for many keywords.
But than i went back home and did a search lol i am no where to be found within first 50.
I cleared/empty cache, temp file etc to make sure its not displaying old resulr

The only difference is i have regular dialup internet at home + T1 at my work (the result were same at both places)
My sister has SBC YAHOO DSL.

Don't know why its doin this way!!!!Also my website is not for a local regional product i use generics keywords for a service i sell.

Your obviously using different data centers at Yahoo. I know that with Google the searchs can be quite different depending on which server you are querying.

Here is an idea... Find out exactly what the URL is and then open up a dos window and ping the server. It should respond with an IP address. I bet the will not match.

lingo:

ping www.yahoo.com or
ping www.sbc.yahoo.com or whatever your search sites are in the browser window.

It is always like that on Yahoo at first. Just 10 minutes ago my site listed # 7 in yahoo for risque lingerie and then i refreshed 5 minutes later and POW gone!. For some sites this happens all the time and never ends. I am lucky enough most of the time that it levels out and I end up with a top 10 ranking.
