Dropped

One of my sites was dropped from Yahoo, MSN, and Altavista all in one day. Traffic went from 500 uniques to 50 per day.

I resubmitted. Was this the right thing to do?

Resubmission was a waste of time. Whatever caused the problem will not be fixed with a submission.

Before resubmitting, it might be best to check the guidelines first so you can make any changes that might need to be made. The guidelines are available at:

What do you do if none of your site fits into the deletions or spam sites page you included but is now gone after the last change in yahoo here 3 weeks ago. I used to be on first page on about 100 some keywords and now not in search at all even under domain. What do you think happened?

Your site has a few problems.

No robots.txt file.

HTML errors.

Very poor optimization. You did not say what search terms you were found under. My guess would be that 'military' and 'people' were in there somewhere.

Now, this is only a guess. May it be that Yahoo has dropped you because it thinks that you are just another directory site? Google is full of directory sites - in Yahoo they are few and far between.

I also have been dropped from Yahoo! I have an affiliate site for contact lenses. After reviewing the guidelines I have made several adjustments to my site. Will Yahoo! accept me if the site once again fits their criteria, or do I have to beg someone to be resubmitted. I'm still being spidered on a regular basis.

What is frustrating is not knowing why I was dropped. In general, I try to provide quality content, including a shopping comparison feature. If you look at the guidelines a good portion of web sites that practise SEO would violate some terms to some extent.

When I hear about people being dropped for months on end I wonder if it doesn't make more sense to just launch a whole new web site.
