Default Yahoo! Search Results Different?

Has anyone noticed that Yahoo SERPs are different across the network? For example, I have a client who wants to to rank well for the term "sound powered telephone" and all variations. He ranks well for all terms in Google, but not even in the first 100 results at Yahoo.com. I just noticed that he is #2 in the CNN SERPs served by Yahoo. Why would this be?

PunkyLZ,

Great question! Thanks for posting :)

I moved your post to our new Yahoo! forum, where hopefully it will get a better response.

Good luck!

Brittany

It appears that Yahoo are not giving partners full access to the complete Yahoo index:

For example a search on cars returns:
Yahoo - 75,300,000 results
Alltheweb - 33,830,431 results
MSN - 16,109,075 results
Lycos - 15,790,107 results

While the CNN search does not give the number of results returned,IMO I think it safe to assume that thier database searched is much smaller than the Yahoo main index, and the elimination of perhaps 80% of the pages makes it easier to rank on any given term.
