Default yahoo dir worth it?

Hi,
What is the opinion on whether it is a good idea or not to submit to the yahoo directory? im having a hard time getting my site indexed by yahoo, plus i hope this would do good for the business. What percentage of searches is yahoo? Is it going to die soon? for the money, is this the best way to publicize? thanks!

Default more info..

actually, my home page is indexed, it just dropped completely out of the ranks. my meta title that got picked up is the name of my site, followed by my slogan "Tools 4 Flooring - Quality Flooring Tools and Supplies". I dont know if this is considered spam, i certainly dont think so considering titles like this are on page 1:
"Flooring Nailers > Flooring Tools > Power Tools "

So would submitting to yahoo directory improve my standing? thanks

If you are non-profit, and can get listed for free, then I would say it is definately worth it, otherwise the $300 is better spent elsewhere.

Default thanks, so..

thanks,
if my home page is indexed, but ranked very very poorly, does that mean it is not penalized. In other words, if a site is penalized, will it be removed altogether or could it just be bumped back a few hundred pages? thanks

Default the site

the site is below, the Tools 4 Flooring site. It still shows up in yahoo, but has basically dropped from all relevant term searches. But if its still in the directory, does that mean it has not been penalized? Im confused. Advice? thanks

Are sure it's still in the directory? I just checked and it appears that it's not in the directory:

I just checked your other site:
http://search.yahoo.com/search/dir?p...&fl=0&fr=slv1-

and it appears that you aren't in there, as well.

Yahoo! definitely seems to be gaining ground in the search engine wars, and more and more people are using Yahoo! lately.

The litmus test that I like to use is to do a search for your most popular keyword phrase. In this case, I did a search for 'carpet tools'. Sine the majority of sites for that term aren't in the directory, then having a directory listing could definitely help you rise to the top.
