Default Quirky Yahoo Result

As I was answering a previous post, I start to wonder about a problem I have with Yahoo.

I have had great results with Google, but for some reason my site is almost non-existant with Yahoo.

Take this for example: In Yahoo, I type in "Free Evil Eye Jewelry". The top result brings up the 'future site' page for my Web Hosting company. It then lists a URL of a site that has no relation to mine.

A majority of the remaining results are from link exchanges that list my offer.

To me it seems like the top listing should be my site, but they have the default web hosting page...

Does anyone have any recommendations on this?

Thanks!

Scott

I see what you mean, how long has your site been up? The only other thing that I see is that a lot of the page titles are the same. Im not sure if this is usually a problem in yahoo, but it may have something to do with it. I'll keep looking to see if I see anything major.

I als do not do as well in Yahoo as in other SEs - I bought Yahoo Directory listings for both companies this month, I will let you know if they seem to do any good.

Here We Go,

There are some minor problems with the overall page structure. None of them are extremely important. But, the alt tags on the form I might remove. There is no use for alt tags on any <form>, it is not supported or used by any browser and may be considered spam.

The main problem that I see is that you have no backlinks at all in Yahoo. I think if you work on your Yahoo backlinks, then you will do much better. Also if you exchange with sites that are listed in Yahoo well, they are almost certain to be listed in google as well, so you will get more backlinks appearing in google too.

I'm sorry...what do you mean by backlinks? Do you mean regular link partners?

Backlinks are links on other pages which point to your site. Backlinks can be internal (when placed on pages within your site) and external (when place outside your site).

Well...that's weird, because I have almost 600 websites as my link partners...don't know why Yahoo would pick them up...
