Default Technical Question/Answer Forum

With no specific forum for Tech. Q&A, members are struggling trying to find a good place to post such questions; and, their questions are easily overlooked.

I suggest that, as do many other on-line forums, WPW establish a forum dedicated to such. Should such be implemented, and it is determined that sub-forums should be set up for different categories, please invite members to make suggestions via the quasi-daily "WebProWorld" e-letter.

Good point. What kind of sub forums would you like to see under this new tech section? I'm open to suggestions and the popular ones with our members will get used.

Based on the types of questions observed here, as well as the categories used by other forums, the following are suggested :
  • Hardware
  • Networking
  • Operating Systems
    • Unix/Unix-like
    • Windows
    • Other
  • Web Servers
    • Apache
    • IIS
    • Other
  • Programming
  • Application Software
  • Security
  • E-Mail
  • Other

If conservation of display space is of importance, then collapse OSes & Web Servers into a single sub-forum each.

Thanks; that should work quite nicely.

I see that you have, in the descriptions, expressly extended the scope to include, not just Tech. Q&A relating to problem solving, but to other related aspects as well; that was an excellent thought.

Thanks.

I was ready to post a question re. a weird problem with FF, and only then noticed the oversight of this very common category! Sometimes it's the obvious that escapes our view.
