Default A section for links??

I am not talking reciprocal links or links to sites just for show. In MANY of the posts I have read over the past few days I have found links to sites that I have never visited before with a wealth of additional information on topics such as accessibility etc. Now I could bookmark all of these but I wonder how many other great links I have missed in past posts etc.

So what I am wondering is if it is possible to put together a list of links and resources for everyone to use?

If this has been asked before.. I am sorry, I didn't see it anywhere.

It does get mentioned here and there and I like the idea myself.
However, a lot of us have some very good links, to not only resources, but downloads, job sites etc., and even I alone have probably 10 sites that are themselves packed with unbelievabley good links.
If it was seperated into the categories and someone put a post or sticky, it might be manageable, and there are espescially universally useful apps, online tools, tutorials - that could be of use to the majority of us. It starts to become an issue of which ones do people find the most handy and often used.
It would be great to have a voting or ranking system and have a master list of the best or highest recommended, and that is what I think you are asking for, one good list, no?

What many people also do, is just ask for links, like FTP utilities, that was a good one (labyrinth_of_fire !).

What are you interested in most?
Here is a total design guige, from planning, to writing styles etc., etc, from my 'best 'o' the best' folder (lol):
http://www.webstyleguide.com/index.html

THE BIGGEST http://www.kayodeok.btinternet.co.uk.../webdesign.htm

Between these two, it can keep you busy for a few hours LOL

If you want to look at some free pictures (lol - I can't believe this, how big can you get LOL)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_...mage_resources

If you have something even real specific in mind, just ask, like fomt resources or specific software tutorials.

And a hint for finding other lists of good stuff, when you are at a site that really impresses you, go to THEIR LINK PAGE, and just surf - they have incredible sites listed as well.

But your suggestion is a really good one! :o)

I do all of those things quite often and get lost in the maze of sites with resources and then forget where I started...:-P Having it organized would help immensly!

Who knows.. WebPro could even offer some kind of premium links section with banners or whatever to help offset the costs of hosting it?

Thanks for those resources.. I will be checking them out!!

Hi,sajdlz, I agree with you here:

I wanted to let you jnow that you have very good ideas IMO=(in my opinion), and I am sure others, it is something that is being looked by a couple of us, and keep the ideas coming! This is one dear to my heart also.

Now, something else has occured to me, and that is that I was lost here at first, I didn't know what a 'PM' was, I didn't know about using the search - which as searches go seems pretty good here - but many things.
I think we should have a "Help" thread for questions as well. We SHOULD KNOW about usability here and I didn't even realize it until now that people might not even know HOW TO ASK questions, or where.
That way if there are common re-occurring situations and difficulties with general 'way it is done here' issues, well we then post a F.A.Q. section.

Hey?

I mean HEY??
;op

I like those ideas a lot as well. I noticed that there is an faq section.. but it seems to be the standard phpbb one and doesn't fit a lot of the stuff/info on here.

I am fortunate enough to have worked with message boards and know the ropes but also having been a moderator and administrator for a few, I know that many don't know how to use them and even those that do.. don't know all of the features (same with most people that use a browser.. they have no idea all the little tricks)

I seriously wonder how many people have private messages on this forum that don't even know they exist. The only notification that I have seen is my mouse cursor change. If you didn't know what that meant. you would be at a loss. That would be an interesting survey wouldn't it?

Is my face red, is MY FACE RED?? LOL

No wonder we are on the same wavelength!
Ya, there are features inside of features etc.
Yikes, I didn't even know we had a FAQ here! I just never looked and it is in a different spot than...haha, bloody newbies LOL <-- @ myself.

If you are knowledgeable about this stuff, you can help people with forums and blogs, that's where I am trying to get up to par right now($$$) - plus about a hundred other places as well LOL.

Hey, I am pleased to meet you, sajdlz, good crowd here, I look forward to seeing you around!

I would be happy to help in any way I can. I am also delighted to meet you and don't worry.. I will be around. 3 days and I'm already hooked!

LOL about the FAQ.. I have to admit I came back and edited my post after noticing it on the top so you are not the only one that didn't see it.
