Regional Newletter content

i-Entry has so many newsletters, that when we subscribe to them, we subscribe to the ones that have the content we want in them. Usually a great process.

However, this week I was a tad annoyed, I dont know about others who may have read it.

The Webpro NewsAU, the Aussie regional newletter, headlined an article written by a Montreal based SEO, and the top ad. on first opening headlined about marketing around the US.

International content is good, but I think when its region specific, it should be local content. Otherwise we would just get the other international newsletters (which I do anyway). By subscribing to the AU edition, I want to read what is happening in my own backyard, and by who. When I first opened it & read it I had to do a double take that it was the AU edition. A Montreal contributer's picture against the backdrop of our parliament house, map & flag...and swathed in red, white & blue.(also a tip, our national colours are green & gold, not red, white & blue...understandable mistake though given our flag).

In regards to the advertizing content, I DO realize that it is a revolving Ad that is placed on all the newletters...however... its pretty ironic that then you open your AU edition newsletter that you are reading a Quebecian article & the Ad placement in bold is on marketing in the US. If I hadnt seen our little flag, I wouldnt have know it was the AU edition.

Usually it wouldnt bother me, but this time I thought I susbscribed to enough of the other newletters, that as the AU one isnt published much, I look forward to reading Oz content, and was pretty disappointed not to find much.

Hey Cindy,

The ad spot is a rotating ad, which means not all subscribers see the same thing. I'm not sure WHY our advertising coordinator put a United States ad in an Australian newsletter but I'll ask him to be more careful next time.

As far as the newsletter content goes, we try to feature regional authors in our newsletters as often as possible, but unfortunately we just don't have enough regional content coming in to do this every issue. As always, article submissions are more than welcome. But you may have noticed not all of our American newsletters feature American authors. Our editors pick the content they believe to be the most relevant, regardless of who the author is or where he or she happens be located.

Do you feel like the article was not relevant to you? Our WPNAU editor is very interested in your feedback and I'll pass your comments along to him.

I understand where you're coming from though and I, too, would love to see more regional content from authors across the globe.

So, hey, international authors, where are you? Send us your content and you just might be featured in an upcoming newsletter! ;)

I basically knew the answer anyway, but thought that maybe more people would like to read more regional content. LOL...Obviously not.

Its a shame though. We are discussing a predominant 'international' industry, yet, all over the net the information is usually of Nth Amer. origins. With exception to those that have travelled itnernationally within this realm, how can many base their information threshhold on Nth Amer written articles. You have to pretty much scour the net to find articles written with an Australian, Euorpean, Asian, etc perspective. Yet... we know there are people around with expertises in those demographics who can give fresh or different perspectives.

As far as the ads went, I knew they are in all the newsletters (I used to get soooo many of them! Had to edit some out lately due to lack of time) I just thought it was ironic at the time :-)
