Default WPW Supplemental Pages

Last Novermber I tried to clean the supplemental pages of our mod CTABUK UK SEO & Internet Marketing Forums and I brought them down to approx. 3%. Looks like someone messed stuff around there, and today they are 24,38%:

If WPW would like to get those issues fixed, I would be glad to provide my support. I think it would be very necessary to fix those issues while Supplemental Index Ratio Calculator

One reason why the SI for WPW is so large, may be the change of forum software from phpBB to vBulletin with the option to use perma links.

There should be thousands of links out there originally pointing to posts that now point to the home page.

Kjell WPW is using vBulleting and not phpBB. And vBulletin alone can not hinder the supps. And if you have the vB SEO plugin not 100%.

There are robots.txt rules required and in addition X-Robots created server side.

I did all the work for my forums and now I am waiting for Google to update the supplemental index which did not happen since February this year if I remember well.

Do you have any tips on how to get more pages out of the supplemental index and into the main index?

I mentioned the tips already above. Someone must be familiar with editing in some cases advanced robots.txt rules and X-Robots in the .htaccess file if on Apache.

Myself and my customers already have huge success with these methologies, which replaces those weird and ridiculous PR sculpting techniques we are reading all over the place for a while now.

Thanks I posted my question before i had seen you had posted again with the robots.txt and x-robot tips.

I think in December Google said that they were starting to show supplemental results for main search queries, but I would still like to do something about pages from my sites that are supplemental, as I am not sure what is what with with that, so thanks for the advice.

I have never been too bothered by PR it doesnt seem v.important, but anything that might improve traffic to my site always sounds interesting.

cheers

Did you read my answer? John, there is a difference between is and was, at least here

There are a lot of meaningless links to WPW posts because of the change of forum software from phpBB to vBulletin.

Where are the related pages placed in Googles index? Without new links to old pages, are they found? Without IBL's can they be put in the SI?

Right kjell and they didnt even bother to set up rewrite rules from the old pages to the new ones when this switch was made.

I do not see any reason for rewriting rules in the .htaccess.
