Default Friendly contest to promote forum participation

I'm not sure if this will fly or not but I believe it would be fun to watch and I myself would love to see the outcome of it.

The contest would be ran by WPW, supported by the members, for the members.

Description of contest.

1. Admin of WPW would pick a topic of their choice.
2. A thread would then be posted in the breakroom area of this forum with the title "contest" and the topic of the site posted in the body.
3. The members who wanted to participate would then create a micro site on that topic (X pages deep max). They would have X time from start of the contest / date that the topic is posted. You must be a member BEFORE the start of the contest to participate.
4. At the end of such time a link to the pages that were created would be posted to a thread.
5. A poll is set up on this thread and the members would cast a vote for the best page.

Prizes

WPW has many members in many different fields. Some run stores, while others do SEO / SEM etc. In short the prizes would be donated by the members. Depending on the donations there could be a first, second and third prizes.

WPW would take a prize donation promise from members who wish to donate to this cause before the start of the contest. So members know what they are competing for.

Do we really have the members support to pull this off? I'm not sure, but I would donate to the prize pool just to see the outcome.
Who else would? hehe

Just an idea.

No negative feedback from this member . .

would prefer to see a non serious topic. say something like 'Penguin soup'

categories like

most humorous
most horrible
most animated
most sensible
Best images
best text
best concept
worst entry
best entry

I would prefer to see an award with some pretence of prestige- rather than donations. I would be quite happy to compete for the 'worst entry award' or even to view some worst entries.

Make it fun. . . .

I have no Idea if you you have the communication skills to get WPW members motivated. But I just added some rep points for a gallant attempt amxfan. .

No communication skills are not my strong point and thanks for the rep points.

Yes fun topics would be better. Would you say that a small icon next to your avatar, like the MVP icon, would make a good award?

I don't want to sound like I am overstepping my grounds here, I am just trying to get together ideas for the admins if they approve this idea.

I would not count on the admin changing the forum. I think the competition would need to be member based and organised. If the members can not demonstrate an enthusiasm for something like in your outline. why would admin bother?

Basically if you cannot get some good support in this current thread. . Thats about it. If you do get good support, you will still need to actively make it work. . admin will observe. (maybe)
