Default Member ignore list.

"To remove a user from either the Buddy or Ignore Lists, un-tick the box next to their name and click the 'Save List' button.

To add a user to either list, enter their name in the empty boxes for that list and click 'Save List'".

Questions:
  1. Will the member on your ignore list see you and your posts?
  2. If yes, will the member be able to comment your posts?
  3. What about rep points ?

Now I have got three rep points in that thread where I tried to help. Two faceless negative and a positive by Tubby to counter balance the first negative. Thank you Tubby.

Why has nobody answered to this thread? No answer is somtimes a very strong "answer".

I'm not exactly sure how it works kgun.

If you like, ignore me and I'll try and answer your questions above. Or perhaps try it with another member who is willing since I don't know if being a mod would affect anything.

However, I suspect an ignored member will be able to see your posts and reply, you just won't see them.

Dave

  1. I don't think it is possible to ignore a modertor and you are not a candidate (now).
  2. If an ignored member can see my posts and reply without me seeing it, I see no reason to ignore a member.
  3. But ignoring a member that makes both of us invisible to each other could be fine. Especially, if you can identify a member that gives you negative rep rank for the reason cited in the link in my first post, and a member, that IMO do not understand a problem and give me negative reprank should be fine.
  4. Therefore, it should be possible to identify those who give you rep points. Is it?

kgun...

Am I understanding you correctly?

You'd like to be able to pick and choose who can see your posts and leave you rep?

The Norwegian Spray / Lycos chat had this ability:
  1. You could ignore a member by a click and he did not see you and he was invisible to you. That is what I want.
  2. In addtion, it should be an advantage to see who gave you rep points, ideally for what. It is not good to get negative rep points for the reason I got in the above mentioned thread. I did not know how section targeting was implemented in AdSense, even if I knew of the possibility.
I know I can be arrogant and academic. Is that another reason to give a negative rep point?

I won't disagree that I "like" to see who leaves me rep points, positive or negative. I also agree that the reason "why" is more important.

At least part of the problem with such a system is that it could make threads appear to be "choppy" and non-fluid for anyone who found themselves "ignored". Posts/replies could easily become redundant or repetitive because all of them can not be seen.

A member could just as easily "ignore" another member for the "wrong reasons" as they could leaving rep points for the "wrong reasons".

This could easily cause more rep points (positive and negative) to be given for the "wrong reasons".

While I believe I understand the point you're trying to make, my personal believe is that implenting such a system would cause more harm than good.

(chuckling) Kgun, they are just a vote, that's all. It is just your own little bit of WPW that you have minimal power to manipulate. If you get a negative vote simply look at the post and work out why you go got it . . Someone gave you a pointer.

WPW has a rep system. . The idea is that you work with the tools WPW gave everyone. . not to keep continually wanting to change them..

Yes, I did notice the negative point. . Yes I did ad a positive points to balance it, I did think it was a bit unfair. This I thought was a fair use of my voting power.
