Default How do I...

1. Remove subscriptions to old threads? How did I get subscribed to them anyway, I never subscribe to threads.
2. Change forum display options? Some forums display by thread title since the beginning (which is not bery helpful). Changing the options on the discussion page of those threads sometimes works but is never remembered for the next visit. Many changes to the options don't work at all.

Hiya DS,

How's things in Cow town??

If you want to remove all subscribed threads and prevent any new ones, go to your "User CP" and look down on the left column for "Subscribed Threads" and click on the "Edit Folders" link.

That will bring up the "Your Folders" page where you'll see a text field with "Subscriptions" in it.

Delete the "Subscriptions" text from the field and click on "Save Folders".

A few of the options settings are probably stored in cookies. Deleting the cookie file results in the options reverting back to their defaults.

That didn't work to get rid of subscriptions. It just puts it the subscriptions folder back in again.

I found two cookies with webproworld in and deleted them both and it didn't fix the other problem

What about this:

In your profile, choose
  • Edit Options.
  • Messaging & Notification.
  • Default Thread Subscription Mode.
  • Choose "No email notification".

Any time you post a comment, by default you are subscribed to that forum. As mentioned above, you can change this under Messaging and Notification on http://www.webproworld.com/profile.php?do=editoptions

To delete all the Subscriptions you currently have, go to http://www.webproworld.com/subscription.php and click the checkbox at the top right next to "Notifications". This will check all the subscriptions on the page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and set "Move To Folder..." to "Delete Subscription" and click "Go". You may have to repeat this for each page of subscriptions.

Which forums are you showing as sorted by Title?

Excellent, Thank you. I have now got rid of subscriptions and hopefully should no longer be subscribed to anything.

The main forum I'm having trouble with is Site Design->Graphics & Design Discussion Forum which always shows up sorted by: Thread Title, Sort Order: Ascending, From the: Beginning.

When I try and change this to a more sensible set of options, I can change the Sorted by: to Last Post time (which works) but when I subsequently change Ascending to Descending, it won't change the order and changes the sorted by back to Thread title.

I see what you mean... interesting... as a temporary fix, try this link: http://www.webproworld.com/graphics-...&sort=lastpost This should set the forum to sorting by last post, descending, as a temporary workaround.

Is this happening in any other forums? Thinking maybe something happened in the last migration, maybe.

Default sort order on that forum was (for some reason) set to thread title... should be fixed now, though for the life of me I can't imagine how it got changed in the first place.

If you guys see any others like this let me know.
