Default WebProWorld E-mail Newsletter - Jakob Nielsen

I enjoy receiving the daily update, but find it entirely to cumbersome. The thing is full of ads and links!

In response to the latest Nielsen report, I think that Brittany should redesign the email news letter.

My suggestions for keeping it of my spam list:
1. Remove the excess links and menu items. I have never used any of these. I depend entirely on the content related links. I might use a "home" link though.
2. Remove the marketing and Ads. I understand that this is a business, but keep it on the Web site. I am always confused about what is important and what is an ad. This might be the strategy, but come on, how often do people actually click on those items?
3. Revise the layout. Including the Web site, I always find it difficult to get to main areas of the site because of all of the seperated horizontal bars. Contrast draws attention. The numerous weighted bars contrast with their backgrounds, calling attention to each one. They all cancel each other out--when everything yells, nothing yells.

Just some suggestions. Please keep up the good work though, as the content is definitely relevant.

Joe,

Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the content of the newsletter!

In regards to your suggestions:

As far as excess links go, I'm sure we can remove a few of those, if nobody really uses them. WebProWorld is one of the lightest newsletters iEntry has in regards to ad space. To my knowledge, there are no plans to add or remove any advertisements. We are also currently aware that the layout of the site is far from perfect, but at the moment it is low on the priority list as we are busy preparing for Garrett's conferences and revamping our sister site WebProNews.

Hope that helps!

Brittany
