Default How does one get kicked off this board?

Okay so I got a negative rep because I dared look at the emperor and say I didn't like his new clothes

(the rep system)

So Cool, but how do you remove yourself from this thing?
I've looked around and can't find a single way to extricatemyself from this once useful board now gone ego parade.

Somebody give me a hint. (Or Mods you can just ban me...maybe that will work)

Craig, why you so worried about this? Who knows if Mike did it anyways. Anyone can rep anyone. I think you just need more + reps to overcome - ones. I sent you a positive rep in another thread to help out, but asking for it to be removed is not what this system is about.

Incredible what this system is about has changed. It's no longer about communication or sharing information....it's about popularity. I don't think Mike gave me one negative vote....it is the nature of the masses to frown upon the dissenters. Thank you for your concern and your vote, but someone show me the exit I wanna get off.

Hi Craig - No Forum likes to lose contributing members. You have aired a 'gripe' and that is as it should be. I'll post this thread in the Moderators forum via a link. The thread will remain here.

If things need changing, then as a democratic forum we need to listen to problems and see what can be resolved. Can you stay with it for a while please? Thanks David

I noted his RepRank and wondered why? Partly I also agree to what he says. IMO, there should be no negative rank. I have also thought of leaving, since I have a RepRank of 0 after more than 2000 posts. But now I ignore the system. It is useless to me, like the Google green indicator.

Conclusion:
If you can not say something positive about a person, do not say it. Delete the red indicator.

Participation in this or any forum is not mandatory and need not be a lifelong commitment.

If he wants to go, let him go and spare the rest of us from the incessant whining, complaining, discord and general malaise.

Help the guy out. Wish him well and delete his profile.

I think somebody saved him. His RepRank is now 1. Interesting to see how easy it is to buy him?

Hmmm, I have just read over his last few posts and I see no whinning, complaining or discord. To some your post could be interpreted as 'flaming' so please do not use such expressions. Thank you

Well the exit is in your browser. It's just a matter of you not logging in anymore if you don't want to be here anymore... Why do you need any mod/admin assistance with that?

How can I keep from using Google every day? I don't like the way they do some things so I need to know who at Google I need to talk to fro them to kick me off their site and ban me from using Google?

I am angry with (insert tv network) for canceling (insert tv show). I don't agree with their program decisions at all. They aren't fair to me and other fans of the show. Who do I talk at the network to get my access to their channel removed?

I could go on with this for days and they'd all be just as absurd and they'd all be based on precisely the same premise you're using.

I would also add that "linksto" the arthurspool site has IBL's from this Forum. So I suggest you take Mike's suggestion to heart. Keep your options open.

This site didn't just become an 'ego parade'

It got upgraded to the same Vbulletin software that all of the other MAJOR webmaster sites are using...

Ever hear of Digital Point? V7N? TWT? they all use Vbulletin... and now so does WPW it's not going to show your true rep because you've been here for yrs!

The only thing that's constant is change... if your really worried about people repping you just ignore the pips... (pips are red or green little .gif images)

On Digital point the (i)trader is also installed - wonder why?

Great... I'll tell ya!

You have to have enough rep to be able to sell something... so if your just a spammer (which your not w/ as many posts as you have) you can't post things for sale in the marketplace...

Believe it or not the guys at ientry / WPW / WPN have more important things to do on a daily basis than listen to people complain about a FREE SERVICE

Running a site of this size does cost money... (employees, bandwidth, hosting, etc..)

How about... Thank God the site doesn't charge to be on here like some other webmaster forums?

If you are a decent person... don't flame others... and provide (good banter / friendly chat / good information / etc...) then you don't have anything to worry about!

Mike good point about the red X button up top... no one is forcing anyone to be here... this is a place to get together and share info / ask questions / get IBL's etc...

When you start your forum you can dictate that there will NEVER be a rep system... and you can enjoy the spammers that flood your site.

This is not a 'NEW' technology it's been in use on almost EVERY major webmaster forum for the last 4 yrs...

I'm not red repping you... but when you whine, it's hard not to want to red rep you...

(*My opinions are not necessarily those of management / Admins / other members... you can also skip my posts if they upset you, furthermore, stop whining)

That was the original post when he had a red RepRank. There should be an option to turn off the RepRank like Mike has done. I have not found it.

I agree to that, but I don't think that it is done for fun or charity.

Well, I think the rep indicator should dispense hot dogs.

Green Rep... Nice steaming hot dog with mustard.

Red Rep... Cold hot dog, stale bun, no mustard.

Dave <---- sorry, couldn't help myself.

I love hot dogs. I'll look into this one. You might be on to something.
