Default Thanks for the ban

Just a few notes, then I will be on my way.

I had not been a member of WPW for a long time - less than a year. I was an average poster, with about 175 posts in all. I found this forum to be a useful place where I could come to find the answers to questions I had, as well as pass on some of my own knowledge to people who were asking questions. I tried to be a good member of this forum, I did not participate in flame wars, nor did I post abusive messages or, to my knowledge, violate any of the practices or policies of this board.

This morning, I logged in to my normal account (my name was wige) to check on some of the threads that I had been participating in, and I got the following message:

You have been banned for the following reason:
No reason was specified.
Date the ban will be lifted: Never

I was never told I was doing anything wrong. I don't know why I was banned, so I have to assume that this was an arbitrary decision on the part of the management.

If there was a reason I was banned, please reply and let me know what I did wrong so that I can avoid making such mistakes in the future. If this was rather an arbitrary decision and is one of the new directions that our, no, make that your new forum is taking, I am glad I am no longer a part of it.

I am aware that it is frowned upon to create a new account after being banned, even if no reason for the banning is given, but this seemed to be the easiest way to post a message and inquire about the reason for my ban. I will watch this post to see if anyone responds. If not, I will delete this account and, per the wishes of the administration, refrain from posting on this site further.

i've banned one person today who was posting under the email4m forum name. if this was you, then i stand by what i did 100% because you or whoever was using that name fired off about 5 spam posts and that's not accepted here.

if that wasn't you, then i'm not sure what to tell you because that's the only permanent ban i've issued since the changeover occurred... if that wasn't you, PM me with your details including old user name and password.

You probably weren't banned.

I imported teh forum into a new software program this weekend and some usergroups (for unknown reasons) were banned by default. Admin as a matter of fact was part of the banned group -- which was as much fun as you might imagine.

If you can give me your old username I'll look iinto it.

We had a bunch of depricated usergroup designations taht we never used in the old system --- some of them defaulted to banned in the new one.

It's just a import setting -- nothing personal.

Cool. I am back up and able to log in now. I forgot that the forum system was getting transferred over the weekend and somewhat panicked when I couldn't get in. Thanks for the assistance.
