Default Forum spammers and Google SERP spam.

Start by reading this post:

What is spam?

I have seen an increasing tendency to forum spammers at WPW.

There is at least one method to reduce forum spam, by allowing links in member posts after the member has posted a minimum (of meaningful) posts.

Ken's post: GOOGLE's Latest Antics = Cross Threaded SERP?

is a reminder. Can WPW members signatures be used to "spam the Google index?"

Conclusion from the thread: What is spam?

SERP Spam:
By SERP spam we mean any thechnique, not related to content, that results in a manipulated position on the SERP's of one or more SE.

SERP Spam:
pages on a SERP that are not relevant to the search term, have been manipulated to artificially raise their SERP rank over that which would be achieved normally through content, relevancy, and good design, or serve no useful purpose for a searcher. Also, the use of techniques, legitimate or otherwise, to achieve this.

This may end as a very informative thread if we could get some more constructive proposals. Then we may agree on a synthesis.

I think, now it is time for you to delete my profile.
- I thank you for what I have learned from this forum.
- I thank you for warm and cold comments.
- If I am not blocked, I will look into the forum now and then, but now I have to concentrate on other more important things / projects.
- Last but not least, this forum has the best admins I experienced on the internet.

Best regards

i'm not sure where this is coming from Kjell, but i don't think we should make any rash decisions in the heat of the moment and delete your account.

you are quite welcome here and you know that, or at least i and others have tried to make you feel that way. do not let a disagreement with other members run you off because you are better than that. with this in mind, i don't think i can comply with the request to do any deleting, at least right now.

take the weekend and cool off and we'll see where we stand on monday.

Chris,
you, Mike and some forum members deserve that I give the reason:

1. First and foremost, economic. To little left for contributing. I can use my time better.

2. In addition, when you are attacked by moderators, that IMHO opionion and I stress it is my personal opinion, do not know the business (IT) well enough, it is time to leave.

3. If you find some of my posts valuable, I leave it up to you to delete my profile. There are a lot of links to my sites there, that I hope are relevant.

Best regards

kgun,
In addition, when you are attacked by moderators, that IMHO opionion and I stress it is my personal opinion, do not know the business (IT) well enough.

There is of course another aspect of disagreements. I Sometimes think it is akin to a football match, where opposing teams CLASH . with sparks flying, low blows and a bit of biffo.
If both teams were kicking the ball towards the same goal (as is often the case in many forum discussions) The game can seem very stale.
We realy do need players that can grab the loose ball and sprint the other direction. Yes sometimes they make it a few metres down the field and find they have no backup, no one to pass the ball to. . But sometimes they cross the line. These are the moments when we see the things we come to see.
Sometimes the spectators, see something that is not reflected in the end result. Sometimes the referee calls a foul and changes the flow of the game. Sometimes a player gets flattened by a foul move. sometimes the linesman needs glasses. .
When a Class player takes of his boots and walks away from the game because he does not think he scores enough goals - because of a bad call . . . Then ?

RAH RAH Kgun, He caught the Ball
the ref called "it's a foul, not the play at all"
RAH RAH Kgun, running for the line,
The ref, just blew the whistle, shouted "time"
RAH RAH Kgun, When Kgun gets the ball
the refe, just doesn't like it . . . AT ALL!

Is attacking the same as disagreeing Kjell?

Of course not.

1. Note the following subject of the Google forum:

"Discuss anything and everything about Google. Includes SEO talk related to Google. Topics include Page Rank, banned sites, Google spidering and overall Google strategies."

My underline.

2. I am here and use my free time, hopefully to help people and sometimes get help. Ctabuk closed a thread about Pagerank. You followed up with a subject that Pagerank should not be discussed any more. I personally felt that as more than disagreement. I can promise you, that would not have happened to every WPW member. But let us not start a discussion about that. It is my personal opionion.

3. I have been very tired, because of problems with my foreign hoster and my Norwegian ISP. Finally after more than one year it is settled.
