The Continuing Need For A Hosting Forum
We currently have at least two threads going concerning Hosting Issues.
Not having a Hosting Forum where we can discuss Hosting Issues has been a black hole here for a long time.
At least 50% of the time when someone decides to post a hosting issue they have to disclaim it as "This may not be appropiate here".
That is because we don't have a venue to deal with hosting issues.
Surely we can slide one in somewhere!

Sounds good...
Hosting issues? Hey, I'll sell space on my server, hasn't been down for years!
;0)
I think you've got a good idea here green. Where can I sign up for the ad space?
I guess I could setup my retail site for the hosting, maybe I could make some money. Nah, too much work.
I definately think that it would be good to see both good and bad chats on hosts in the industry. Definately could be a good way to keep people away from bad hosts.

You know what weslinda? - I'd second adspace there if we could just get the space to deal with those issues as they come up!

I'll second the hosting forum. I asked for this 18 months - 2 years ago but was told that it was covered under the IT discussion forum. IT is to broad a term as to be useful for anything and hosting knowledge is definately part and parcel of a web professionals arsenal.

This is a topic that really does deserve its own forum.
A lot of people are unaware of how ridiculously easy it is to set up as a webhost. We should have this forum to warn and educate WPW posters to the pitfalls/shady practices/outright scams that go on every day in the hosting industry.
Webhosting is something every web professional should know about and be able to cut through the waffle and sales pitches to determine a good deal. The only way they will know is if those with experience educate them.

Fair enough. I'm sold on the concept. I am going to be taking a look at several of our forums in the next week or two. I plan to merge a few and maybe start out a few new ones. I'll put a 'hosting forum' on the list of add-ons.

Mike you might want to consider a place for people to offer partnerships in websites or business solutions. I know WPW has the "Freelance Work Needed/For Hire" area, but maybe it is not clear on where these posts should go?

Got it. so a partnership section too.
What would you want to call that one? Gimme and idea of what you had in mind for like a title/description when you get a minute.
I probably won't do a lot of this type of thing til i get back from san jose, but i'll keep my eye on this thread to see what you guys have in mind.

Without copying, you can get additional ideas from these two forums:
DNforum
SitePooint Marketplace.
E.g. Sell Your AdSpace.

Partnership is a good title:
Business Partnerships
Whether you're looking for a partnership for a new web site concept, established website or other off-line business, this is the forum for you.

I haven't forgot about these by the way. I've been locked in mortal combat with profile spammers all weekend though.
I'll be shuffling around some forum sections soon though.
