We need a hosting forum.`
Hi all, Haven't been around in a while... doing the yearly taxes.
I would like to suggest a forum dedicated to hosting and hosting questions. We are all web developers and the like and hosting is just a necessary part of our lives. I am sure that people will have many questions and there are plenty of helpful members to answer them.
I would like to put my self in for one of the moderators of that forum. I run my own hosting company and try at all costs to be up to date on the industry.
Hope to see the new forum soon if you guys like the idea.
Good to be back, see ya'll on the boards!

I second the motion!
I like this idea. Cyanide is another one who could moderate.
It would be interesting for me just to be able to learn about security and all else, and maybe provide the odd bit of tech advice.
I have much to learn about setting up accounts, Domain Name registering, etc., etc. and it would sure be nice to have this.
I really like the idea!

ABSOLUTELY - I 2nd that, (or third that)...
Recently I posted a question regarding dissappearing from Google which had to do with my website host godaddy.com going down on me. (sorry, that sounds a bit dirty doesn't it...especially since I posting from San Francisco : )
Anyway - GoDaddy had some problems overnight - google came crawling and I was GONE GONE. In my replies many people talked a lot about my host and not so much on how to get back on google. What I realized was that I also would have liked to post another question regarding my host. People were sugggesting that GoDaddy isnt "search engine friendly" which is very troubling to me and something I would like to talk/hear more about. So lets just start talking about hosting. GANG - Still in your replies please echo your voice for a Hosting forum and if you have any opinions on Hosting and which are search engine friendly, which arent, and what does it mean etc etc. I'm for one ready to find out about great hosts and possible wanting to switch. A said forum would help. There are tons of questions regarding hosting and switching so please WebProWorld - would you start a web site hosting forum.

This Topic Is Always Welcome
When we first came to the WWW two years ago, our first mistake was in the lack of research we put into our hosting provider. The nightmares began on the first day. Six months later we voted to drop the net as a viable form of communications. We reentered recently after friend pointed me to Interland and we could not be happier. It is so nice to be able to actually call and get a human voice to help with our problems, tech support pointed me to your forums to keep up on the changes within the industry. If it were not for their dedication to their clients, we would still be using consumables and adding to the growing problems associated with the unnecessary excess that we are guilty of in our past. Thanks Interland for being there in our time of need.

Noticed, but it would be a lot better with an all HOSTING FORUM, it actually is a huge subject!

Web Hosting Forum
This may be a suggestion or a very dumb question.
Is there a section to discuss web hosting info such as:
*Data centers
*Platforms
*Hosting Solutions
*Management Software
*etc.
If there is a forum on this site, which one is it? If not I would like to think it should be a part of this "Web Pro World" :D
Three cheers fir a web hosting forum ;)

Sure, it's a pretty big subject, however not so much on this forum so far. Perhaps in the future it will be added.

Voting "yes" on adding a WH forum
I definitely agree that there should be a unique and individual "Web Hosting" forum. The topic is too large not to have its own place. As WPW has grown during the past year, the ever-growing membership is showing a lot of confusion on "where do I post" and how many of us track forums where we have little interest, such as ecommerce (for me). I don't run a shopping cart, nor do I plan to; hence, I don't check it out.
Web Hosting is poorly understood by many and there is no easy way to find the answers, even through a google-search. It remains fairly inexplicable and has its own jargon when one tries to deal with WH support. Since we have a couple of experts willing to volunteer as MODs, I really don't see any reason NOT to add it.

HOSTING hello...!!!
Still no hosting forum?
Until then - Somebody please tell where should I post a question about hosting?
The question will be something like this:
After fiddling around with my own advertising creative site and learning a lot (mostly from this forum) I am finally ready and inspired by the success (traffic) to launch two mainstream sites with the ambitious plan to get them pretty high traffic. Within 5 figures Alexa traffic rank. I would like to find a great host:
1) The host should be a solid company with good financial records. = not going out of business on me a few years from now. I do not want to host with a SMALL player. It might have its advantages but your house might burn down...or your spouse might walk out on you and take 1/2 the drives with him/her.
2) Unlike GoDaddy (which is my current host) it should offer easy affiliate opportunity for hosting. I would love to use go daddy but the only way to make money is to become a reseller with a name and site etc... (too complicated)
3) It should be "search engine friendly", Have super uptime record and good tools and stats etc.
4) It should be search engine friendly - whatever really that means.
Thats about it. Is that too much to ask?
As for a forum. Tell me where to post or reply here if you can even find this post.
Until there's a hosting forum. Hmmm. maybe I need to find another web forum that does have a hosting section. Naaaa. I am very happy with WPW. Just get a hosting forum place will ya.
