Disappearing before I submit reply
I wonder if this has happened to anyone else?
twice in the last two days I have been posting, a reply in the Design forum and one in Programming, and I went to get resources links IN ANOTHER BROWSER. When I brought my posting back into focus, IT WAS GONE!!!!!
I don't like spending 5 or ten minutes on a detailed reply, and then having it disappear.
Any ideas here? Is there some sort of time limit being set?

Ya, I am choked. I lost another 2 F######)posts. It didn't happen on another phpBB forum when I then did a test.
I had one window open and a reply box going for each, I typed some text in, and the WPW one refreshed, and the other still hasn't.
I thought it might be auto-refresh on my browser, but it isn't.
Tell adam I was helping him with his CSS and as I went to hit submit - before I did - my page refreshed and cleared my reply. It happened in the security forum also.
I spent whatever the interval is, 5 or 10 minutes - whatever, wasted.
Now we have to put up with time limitations hassling us when we try to give a thorough reply????
I wouldn't mind seeing the times of the posts listed, either. Why are they gone? Don't you like people to enjoy it here?

Okay, ya know what? After losing another post, and this was straight typing, I give.
That is far to ignorant for me to put up with.
Call me when you fix it.

Yeah, a 900 second meta refresh was recently added. I'm sure it sounded like a good idea at the time.

Meta Refresh
Well, ya caught me ;) I was the one who put that refresh on the site. I was told to put that up there because at the time it did seem like a good idea :)
Anyway it has been removed and is currently being reconsidered.
Sorry for the trouble,

That explains a few things
I like opening every thing in tabs and some times it is over 15 min before I get around to reading a page, and when I get there some are blank.

Living 30 minutes north of San Antonio means you might as well live on Mars when it comes to ISP support so I have to use crappy satellite. They have a limit on the bandwidth you can use in a given ammount of time, they call it a Fair Access Policy (FAP).
I too open several tabs and knock them out one at a time. I had several WPW tabs open and walked away from my PC for a couple of hours the other day and came back to see swirling reload icons all over the place.
I don't guess it took that much bandwidth, but if I had been gone longer it might have ruined my day.
I'm sure mine is a rare situation, but I thought I'd help make the arguement for not having a meta refresh.

I still have times posted displaying. I think that's in your individual timestamp options maybe. As for the refresh, it was added last week I believe (I took off to watch basketball). If it isn't gone already, it will be soon.

Thanks muchly , guys, and thanks for putting up with temper tantrum *blush*
I saw the mods at phpbb, and if it hadn't happened to me, I might not have realized, reading the mods descriptions, that it doesn't really seem to be worth it.
I understand for chats, of course, and pages with constantly updated reports/news/headlines.
Can you set the mod for just the main pages that list the forums and topics? It looked like it in the first mod (if that's even what you did LOL), but even that I suppose isn't that useful - most people know to refresh pages that have been stagnant for a while.
Thanks, flood6 for responding so quick, and thanks Mike, and you too Rah.
You never know 'till you try it. And I do like the 'save as draft', that was a great idea, and I will check my settings, and I will probably still leap to conclusions and overreact here and there *sigh* :O)
<got to remember the spell check - no hurry ;] )
