A liittle less seo please
There are some of us who are a lot more interested in articles on anything other than google, yahoo and msn.
E-business, is databases, programming a good looking site oh yeah, and then getting found.

I understand your frustrations. These are interesting topics that definitely need to be covered in articles.
Perhaps you have some more specific questions or "sub-topics" of these general topics that you would like more information about?

SEO is a big topic right now with all of the changes in searching but, I do agree netman4ttm. I've stopped reading Page One on wpw because it has gotten boring, for me. I've also heard the same comment from a couple of other members.
Any suggests on how things might be changed?

I agree 100%. One of the things I wanted to do when I got in here was to really try to focus on things other than SEO.
There is one big problem though... Page One and the WPW newsletter are made up of what's new and most intriguing for the day from the forum. Well in the course of putting together the content for this every day, I have no problem coming up with SEO related subject being discussed, but sometimes come up short on non- SEO subjects. In other words, it has to be in here somewhere.
That isn't to say there arent some great threads and info about non- seo specific topics in the forum. There aren't necessarily enough new ones every day though and that's where I run into problems.
I think if you go back and look over the issues we've been putting out in the past couple of months you should be able to see where I'm trying to do just what you're requesting here. Anytime you see some interesting ebiz, ecommerce, design, development news, articles or information sound off about it in the forum somewhere and I'll be more than happy to feature it.
An example of what I can't really use as a feature is something like "Saw a great article on merchant accounts at soandso.com, check it out". Followed up by 'yeah that's great'.
I need some good, meaty, non- seo stuff. Anytime you see anything fitting the bill zap me a PM about it. I'll use it- promise.

There is an inherant problem here. What exactly is webproworld?
For a newcomer it seems as if the board is focussed on SEO but dig a little deeepr and there is something for everyone.
We all have our favourites and forums we frequent (I primarily spend my time between the webprogramming and the break room though with recent discursions into the ecommerce forum (once I knew webhosting was bundled under that category).
I think some restructuring is in order.
An SEO forum with subforums for the varying search engines.
A designers forum with subforums relating to graphics, design, offer/requests etc/
A programming forum with subforums relating to php, asp, vb, databases etc.
A lounge for globalhosting and max-beauty to frequent and an off the wall forum for mikmik, rodger the dodger and greeneagle.
Lets open a poll topic with beginning forums, and sugestions for other forums and reorder the forums according to the poll.
From what I read here it is truly a professionals forum so lets cut the chatter and get to the chase.
Let the people who post here decide the structure.

Although I am a new member (long-time reader) here, I thought I could help get the ball rolling, so to speak, by posting a simple article concerning website design:

I encourage others to do the same. If we all can contribute just a little of our wealth of knowledge, we can really make Web Pro World Forums a rock'n place.

Greetings - netman4ttm!
I whole-heartedly agree with your assessment. I would like to see the newsletter broken down into 4 or 5 segments - with only one being devoted to SEO.
I'm quite sure that if members themselves do not generate enough new quality content needed by WPW admin, then the moderators who are experts in their particular WPW forums could assist in contributing new content within their specific genre.
Cheers!
Max

If you are one of those who thinks there is too much about search engines, then get your butt into the other forums and post some quality articles or comments on other topics. Do that and they'll show up in the newsletter and Page One.
Problem solved.

Grouchy are we Minstrel? lol If only problems were solved that easily.
The majority of people who have posted in this thread are the one's who post a lot of good information. More often then not is it found on Page One. The problem/solution is posted in this thread, no doubt. Unfortunately the one's who do generally post good information wear down. Before long you feel like you're the one doing what others could be doing.
There is always suggesting threads to Mike - Mike loves email and pm's. Huh Mike? ;) By the way Mike..... ummmm Security Watch.....this thread could use with a bit of information - care to help it out?
cpw3 has posted a great post can't wait to see what's next. Max has posted some great ones - I'm sure there will be more. And easywebdev always has great posts and information. Mods have good posts too but, it is always more fun talking about members ;)

I've had six of my articles on varied web-related topics published by Web Pro News. So what's your point, other being negative again, in a thread discussing positive ideas?

Hi Max,
I agree with your ideas. I think if the focus of the newsletter was broken up into balanced segments we would, in turn, see more WPW Forum postings in those other areas. I think we would see the forum balance itself, with a balanced focus.

This is interesting.
How would you guys like to see the content in the newsletter arranged. How many sections? What topics deserve their own sections?

hmmm...
- SEO (Google, Yahoo & MSN)
- Website Spotlight/Critique
- E-Commerce/E-Marketing
- Web Design/usability
- Web Programming
- Web Security
Just suggestions & not neccessarily that order.
