Default Site Problem? auto-login broken again...

Site problems:

Today, each time I click on the link in a notification email I am logged out... similarly, clicking on a link from page one logs me out. I deleted the webproworld cookies and restarted my browser and relogged in, checking the "log me in automatically" flag... it didn't help.

The "watch this page flag" is still resetting too.

I would make sure that you are not using an old link with an expired SID. I did the same earlier today.

Default Same problem

Hi David,

I encountered the same problem, with the auto-login today, and coincidentally... last Friday evening at around the same time... exactly the same thing happened. I believe mikmik posted a similar problem recently to the Break Room's 'epic' topic.

Perhaps someone's locking up the server room to go home for the weekend? Maybe there's a backup going on? I don't know.. but definitely worth monitoring... tune in same time, same place, next week! :c)

Paul

Default Detective mikmik reporting for duty

So, I am not the only one. I even got a new password e-mailed to me and still, same result. I wondered if it is a windows 'update' issue for IE6, or some corrupted cookie in browser cache, so right after the unsuccessful attemp with my new password, I booted to my second OS that I've been using to test update issues ie. it is the same WindowsXP Pro, but I just recently installed it and only added SP 1.

I immediately was able to log in properly, the first time since minstrels thread that I replied to this morning. So browser/OS #1 = consistant failure to get past 'log-in' page; browser/OS #2 = immediate resolution to problem. I might also add that this is the first time I have visited here with this browser, and that I have no plugins(popup blockers or cookie control or history erase tools) installed so I'n not sure what's happenning - we all have similar experiences but not identical. I thought it was a server side issue but saw others were still making posts.

So now I go log out, close IE, and then see if I get back in.
I just realized, minstrel, that my problems started EXACTLY when I first tried to follow link in notification email.
( epic topic! I like it!)

Now if I was unscrupulous I would use this as an opportunity to tell people to use decent browsers like Firebird. Good job I'm not like that though :-D

Well...got back in no problem, although I didn't follow a notification link. Back to other OS then later - look for a life!

Default Wierd!

I really must work on my typing speed. This happens to me a lot - I reply to topic, and by the time I submit, there are other post that weren't thgere the first time!
I know that you really didn't want anything like this to happen, carbonize, but I cannot believe that I still bother with IE at all for surfing. I have firebird AND most the plugins sitting in my 'downloads' folder for about a month now, not to mention 'slimbrowser', which is supposed to be lightning quick, but I just never install them! Glad you reminded me, even though you would never do that(be unscrupulous;o]...)

Just to burst your bubble..I'm using Firebird ;-P

While making the recents posts (about 10a Brit time), I was getting logged out before I got to press submit on a reply post. I'd press submit & have to login all over again, then my message posted.

Happened in IE & Firebird.

Bit odd?

(edit: that time I got to post ok, then when it came to go to Index page again, it logged me out again)

Default I'm on to something

I tried going back to my 'first' OS, the one i always use and started giving me headaches friday with the log-in difficulties.
As you know from above, I went to my second OS (same winXPPro but diff install - no updates except SP1,never used to visit here before) and was able to sign in and post properly.
Then I came back to this #1 IE6 (all updates as of Oct 29) and I had the same trouble - sign in page kept refreshing when I hit submit (oops) but it showed me as signed in at the bottom.

Now the good part!
I took my cookies, there are two of them for WPW, from browser #2 and compared them to browser #1's - and they were differrent - no prob, diff version of IE6 duen to updates?
But I copied the new cookies into #1 cache and PRESTO!, here I am like I, and all of us, should be.
Okay now, any ideas? Keep in mind that minstrel cleared his cookie cache and still was rejected LOL.
Also, I haven't logged out yet, or tried it with no cookie, so we shall see.
10a brit = 2a mikmik time, it is now 2:39a Pacific (mikmik).
So, carbonize, we will see Leeds Utd. playing The Rovers Next season, yes?

Not sure what you're onto MikMik, but you're onto something. Have been having problems with the forum marking threads I just posted in, and am shown as the last post, as not read on my end.

Taking your comments into consideration, I shut down my Internet connection altogether and entered McAffee UnInstaller to clean Temporary and Cached files off my computer. McAffee would not clean all Internet Cache files, on numerous attempts. I even tried shutting down and restarting the program, to no avail. I opened my IE 6 Browser and attempted delete of Cookies, Files, and History, from Internet Options then returned to McAffee, only to find I had somehow tripled the number of cached files in that attempted delete in IE! (Don't ask me how that happened folks, as I have not a clue!) But... Upon attempting removal of cached files then, McAffee cleared them, and on re-entering the forum the problem with files I've posted being marked as unread, is gone.

Once again ~ Thanks Mik!

Or, at least it was, until I posted this one!!! Now it's back.

In Opera however I get ~~> The server has tried to set an illegal cookie, you might as the server to set legal cookies. phpbb2mysql_sid=ea14e0ed620bd658e265fdc9c2ca4394; path=/; domain=www.webproworld.com

Then one about the combination of host name server, and cookie didn't jive.

Then when I hit submit I got another 3 illegal cookie messages, and 4 - 5 more when I clicked on view post, then it went ballistic and just bounced around for a minute or two between trying to show the post and flashing illegal cookie error messages!

Hope this helps guys.

Rocky
