Tons of Garbage Searches within Site

Good Day,
We have a search function on our site. We have always had a few "garbage" searches but lately it has gone nuts. By "garbage" searches I mean "words" such as the following taken from our statistics. (The numbers after are simply the number of times searched and the number of times the word was found.)

I cleared our search history probably two days ago and now there are about 150 of these garbage searches. Can anyone tell me what this is all about and how to stop it?
